Elvis promised to call you. You tried your best not to think the worst of him, but when you had seen a photograph of him kissing another girl in the weekly newspaper, you couldn't help but become distraught. He told you time after time that you were his best girl. It didn't seem that way anymore, though. You teared up and began to pack your bags. That's when the phone rang... You hesitated before answering it.
"Hello?" you spoke softly. "Darlin'," Elvis's voice came over the phone. Hearing his voice made you tense up, unsure of how to respond to him. "I'm leaving Elvis," you announced before going to hang up. The only thing that stopped you was the sniffling heard on the other line. Elvis was crying. "Darlin', I know I messed up but please don't leave," he begged, "I-I can make this right!"
You loved him dearly, but you weren't sure if you could forgive him.
"El-"
"Please, baby give me a chance, that kiss didn't mean nothin' to me, baby, I swear!" Only silence came through his end.
"When I get back, I promise, I'll treat you right," he declared. How could you say no to him?
"Alright... I'll give you one more chance," you finally responded.
Elvis sighed in relief.
"I'm coming home early, baby... for you."
