"She heard too much man, it had to be done..." I heard a voice as I drifted in and out of alertness. My head feeling heavy and my chest tight. Sand had become intertwined with my hair and the taste of salt water burning my throat and lungs. Blinding light forced my eyes to stay tightly closed as the beeping around me drew me back to reality.

"What - what happened?" I struggled to speak as my throat felt like sandpaper, so dry and crisp. I felt the tension in the air rise, the silence was deafening enough. "You need to rest Eva, they can come and visit you soon." An unfamiliar voice spoke. I heard footsteps walking away from where I was laid, the lights still burning through my eyelids. I tried my best to open my eyes but nothing would avail. "I'll set some more fluids up for you, you might feel a little dizzy. That's normal, you seem to have hit your head quite badly. I'll be back in a moment to answer any questions." The kinda unfamiliar voice continued before I heard his footsteps disappear from the vicinity.

I laid in the silence, trying to think back to how I ended up here. My mind going blank. Nothing seemed to add up, nothing made sense. I was just going about my day, trying to meet with Moses. Where was Moses? I needed him to help me piece things back together. "Excuse me..." I muttered as I strained my eyes open to see a tall dark haired man approach me. He looked down at me with a soft smile as he changed the fluid bag on the drip stand. I assumed he must have been a doctor or nurse or someone with some healthcare knowledge. "Do you- do I- my phone?" I kept stumbling on my words, I wasn't sure if it was the blinding headache, the dry throat or my confusion. "You don't seem to have had it on your possession when you came in to us, is there someone you would like me to call? One of your emergency contacts?" The kind faced man questioned. His voice now linking to the face before me. I nodded slowly, not wanting to cause any more pain. "Moses... Moses Khan." He quickly turned on his heels and glided out the doors ahead of me. I sighed heavily, waiting for Moses to appear. He was my day one, he would know how I got in this mess. Or he would, at least, tried his best to find out what happened for me.

As I waited patiently for my best friend to burst through the doors with the energy of a three year old after too much sugar, I thought back to some times that we had enjoyed. The endless 'shortcuts' he thought he knew that often ended up with us being stuck in the most bizarre places; the random outbreaks into song where he definitely didn't know the words but he sang with the confidence of a signed artist. He was a man of little talents, but those he had made he the most special man to grace the earth. That was my Moses, my best friend. The chaotic fool that you couldn't help but adore, the baby brother that you had to protect from the harsh reality. He was special.

"EVA!" I heard Moses scream as the doors slammed open. That was shortly followed by an aggressive shush from the kind doctor, who had previously stood by my side. "Sorry, sorry. I didn't... doesn't matter. Eva, what happened?" Something in Moses' voice didn't sit right, he sounded conflicted but I just assumed he was as confused as me. "If I knew that Mosely, do you not think I would be sorting that?" I rolled my eyes before opening my arms for an embrace. Right now, I needed that hug. He always knew how to make me feel better. "They haven't told me much, I was hoping they said something to you?" I pushed, praying that someone knew something.

"I'll be honest Eva, you know me. I heard you were here and the rest went out my mind." He looked flustered and I knew he was angry with himself. His hands had slowly formed fists that were squeezed so tight his knuckles turned white. I placed my hand over one of his, just so he knew I didn't mind. I needed him to be focused so we could figure this out. "I was with the boys and they drove me straight here. They wanted to see you but he said only I could come in."

"Wait, the boys?" I felt so lost. "Who were you with?" I tried to rattle my brain to think who he meant. Nothing seemed to click at all. I felt my hands start tapping against my leg. Waiting for something to make sense. "You know the boys, silly. Dean, Patar, Adam, Dwayne, T? The whole gang came through..." Moses replied, concern had taken over his eyes. The names were slowly processing in my head. I could picture some faces that slowly made connections to the names. It hurt to focus on everything. "Shall I bring them in? Is that okay?" Moses' voice pulled me back out of the maze my brain was creating. Why couldn't I fully connect the names to the faces? What had happened? "Maybe one of them was told everything but the doctor?" I nodded, unsure of what else o to say. Why would someone I barely know be told what had happened to me? They were Moses' friends, not mine, right?
