Chapter 3: Holly, Jolly

The next morning Johnathan found his mom in Will's room surrounded by lamps some with shades and some without.

"Carter? Will? Baby can you guys talk to me?" He heard entering Will's room. She insisted he was talking through the lights and he just believed she was out of her mind convincing her to get some rest.

"You seriously think that the Weirdo knows where Carter and Will is?"

"Just trust me on this, Ok? Did you get the supplies?" Mike assured and Lucas nodded unzipping his bag.

"Binoculars, from Nam. Hunting knife, also from Nam. A hammer, camouflage mask and...the Wrist Rocket." Lucas smiled proudly.

"Your gonna take out the Demogorgon with a sling shot?" Dustin tilted his head with a dumb expression making Lucas' smile fall.

"First of all, it's a Wrist Rocket. Second, the Demogorgon's not real, it's made up. But if there is something out there, I'll shoot it in the eye....and blind it." Lucas widened his feigned manic expression not impressing either boy.

"Dustin what did you get?" Mike sighed turning to his curly haired friend. Dustin gladly opened his bag and dumped the contents on the table.

"Alrighty, so we got nutty bars, Bazooka, Pez, Smarties. Vanilla wafers, apple, banana and trail mix." Dustin grinned.

"Are you serious?" Lucas groaned.

"We need energy for our travels, for stamina. Let's switch sides why do we need weapons when we have her." Dustin grew defensive.

"She shut, one door!" Lucas raised his voice

"With her mind! Are you kidding me? That's insane! Imagine the other stuff she could do." Dustin stood up to Lucas and he knew in his mind his sister would be proud. "The apple and banana I brought for Carter..." He trailed off and the boy's face softened at his words seeing the lost expression on Dustin's face. Dustin quickly covered it up grabbing the Star Wars space ship up holding it out to Eleven.

Meanwhile Joyce was pitting Christmas lights up all throughout her house. All of them different sets and colors. She ran out halfway through and left to her job to grab more. When she returned she finished putting up the lights heaving a sigh at her work. all the lights were on as she spin in place looking all down the hallway and living room when Karen Wheeler showed up.

Carter's P.O.V.

I woke up before Will, we were still laying under the bed. I coughed from the dust in the air, at least I think it's dust. I carefully slipped out from under the bed seeing lamps everywhere in his room. I looked out the doorway seeing lights covering the ceiling down the hall. I turned seeing the whole living room covered in Christmas lights. Joyce figured it out. I noticed wherever I walked the lights above me lit up and I was so happy that Will's mom was able to figure it out after Will's conversation in the cabinets with Joyce. I rushed back down the hallway getting on my stomach and crawling under the bed brushing the hair from his face.

"Hey, Will wake up." I whispered and he stirred before blinking his eyes open.

"What's going on?" He mumbled wiping the sleep from his eyes.

"Come see what your mom did." I replied as he slipped his hand into mine and I lead him to the living room showing him the lights. I saw a single light lit in the entrance to the kitchen and tapped Will's shoulder pointing at the light.

"I think that's your mom." I stated looking at the lights above us getting an idea.

"Will go over to the cabinet with lights inside. I'm gonna go back and forth in the living room to bring her over to them." I instructed and we did just that. We waited until her lights moved into ours and I opened the doors letting Will crawl in as I sat next to him on the floor. We heard Will's mom call out faintly.
