one: another day, another dollar

Sydney Being indecisive isn't me. I don't know how people can be free-spirited and allow destiny to do whatever. I have to have at least a plan or to-do list of how my day will go so I can feel somewhat accomplished. I'm the type of friend during vacation where we do not steer off of the itinerary because falling off schedule means we don't get to do everything, and when we don't get to do everything...everybody starts complaining, and I don't have time for that.

That's why I do my work, mind my business, and keep it pushing. I know I'm very assertive, but I'm not the type who turns into a raging bitch. Those people get on my nerves. I've been trying to slowly become more laid back because my friends were on my ass about it. I did exactly that and got a roommate because they started raising the rent at my place. I don't even know why I'm surprised because I live in a big ass apartment in union square. Actually, my friend Mychal told me about him since her boyfriend is teammates with him and was complaining about being alone in his space. So I met up with him, and we've been hitting it off ever since. He's actually a great guy, and we became close friends in a matter of months. Plus I really do love his cats Kota and Kai.

As I was getting out of bed, Kota enters my room and rubbed against my leg purring.

"Hi my sweet boy, did you sleep ok?"

He cuddles deeper into my chest as his eyes slowly shut...I guess not. I lightly bounced my arms as Kota fell asleep. I always said I wanted to get a pet but never had time to visit the shelter, but then my roommate came along with his two cats, so it was perfect timing. I don't know I kind of wants a dog, but that's something we need to discuss together. I enter his room and immediately scrunch my face from how loud he is snoring. He did say last night he was tired and went to bed early, but damn I know he's sleeping good. I watch as his chest rises up and falls down with each inhale and exhale. It is so sad that I'm going to have to wake him up tho. Laying down Kota, I grab Kai kissing his head.

"Ready to wake up your daddy."

I hold him a few feet in the air before dropping his down on my roommates' chest. He instantly jumps up and lays back down when he realizes it's just Kai. His hooded eyes land on me as he gives me a small smile while trying to go back to sleep.

"Morning", he groans.

It is too early to be having these thoughts run in my head.

"Good morning Jordan."

Ah yes Jordan Poole is my roommate and I thank
Mychal and Andrew every chance I get. Having a fine ass roommate that cooks, cleans, and does acts of kindness around the house...A MAN! His main reason to moving in was because he was lonely at his place and it was entirely too big for just him. I live pretty close to Chase Center so that another win for him. Jordan is a really nice guy and I'm very surprised that he doesn't have a girlfriend or brings girls back to the house. Also he is kind of an introvert so it makes sense.

"Do you have practice today?"

"No coach cancelled so we can have a free day. You have work?"

"Yeah but it's a light day today."

"You said you would teach me how to code", he smiles.

Another detail about myself I'm a software engineer for Oracle. I'm on the software development team and I honestly love it. I graduated high school at like fifteen, finished college by the time I turned nineteen, and finished my masters in computer science not too long ago. Jordan always says I'm crazy smart but I don't like to boast about that. His muscular arms wrap around my waist bringing me down to his chest. He toss the cover on top of us tighten his grip around me.

"You smell good", he mumbles.

"You do too now come on so I can make breakfast and get started on my work."

"No you get started on work I'll make breakfast", he smiles.

We get out of his bed and I go into my office opening my laptop. I don't have any meeting today which is why I'm not in a rush to get ready. Placing my headphones on I open my laptop, crack my knuckles, and playing my jazz playlist.

I was in my zone and was about to approve an update to one of our softwares until I felt a tap on my shoulder. Jordan stood behind holding out my plate while his other hand holds his. He had on his durag and glasses which is always a turn on for me.

"Thank you did you cook without a shirt on?"

"Yeah."

"Slut."

"Alright no need for the name calling", he laughs.

"I'm sorry I guess but thank you", I playfully roll my eyes.

He pulls up the office chair I got for him and place his plate next to mine. I still eat here and there while continuing to do the work I was doing earlier.

"Everyone is still coming over for game night right?"

"Yeah no one hasn't rain check."

"Well that's good I'm just going to need your help with pulling out the games from the hallway closet."

Jordan wanted to have a game night and invite all of his teammates and their spouses over. Mychal is coming over which is good and she said she'll introduce me to the rest of the ladies. I engulf myself with so much work that I really don't have a life outside of that. Jordan gets onto about it but hey gotta make money somehow.

Once I get that finished my supervisor said I can use the day for myself just to stay online incase anyone sends me an email. Jordan and I went grocery shopping last night so we can make all the finger foods and snacks for tonight. I take out plates and rinse them off before placing them in the sink. The games o mention earlier can wait I'm just trying to chill right now.

My body slams down on the couch and Jordan slams his on top of mine making me cough hard.

"Why would you do that", I whine.

I turn my body around so Jordan can lay his head on my chest.

"Because why not", he shrugs his shoulders.

I pinch a little bit of skin from him nicely area making him scream. Jordan is too tall to be screaming like a little girl. I erupt in laughter as he gives me a look and I just know what's coming next. Soon his fingers tickle my sides and I start kicking so he can get off of me.

"Alright I'm sorry that enough!"

"You need to stop abusing me."

"Oh stop whining and just cuddle with me."

He falls into my arms placing a kiss on the cheek and I give him one right back. I'm actually glad that Jordan and I are roommates. He took some of the work load off of my shoulders and I'll forever appreciate him for that.

"Do you think that we should get a puppy?"

"And raise it together?"

"Yeah", I smile.

"Hell yeah I'm down. The shelter I volunteer at said they have new ones coming in looking for their forever home. You want to go this weekend?"

"Let me check my palm pilot...looks like I ain't doing shit", I giggle.

He shakes his head and I can see that he's smiling. Jordan loves it over here and he can't deny it.
