Nai Appams

My eyes used
to lit up in glee
When I saw those
Chocolate bars
dancing inside the
pocket of your
shirt as you walked.

Never did you forget
to get them when
you visited us.

You used to be
the only one
who used to laugh
at all my jokes
even though they
never were funny.

You were the one
who created my
obsession for Nai
Appams. Just if
you're wondering,
I still do love
Nai Appams.

More than anyone
else today, grandma
misses you a lot.
She hasn't been good
at all, without you.

You were her strength
And so her weekness.
Just come back,
at least for her.

It's been six years
since you're gone.
Six years since
I have seen those
Chocolate bars
in the pocket
of your shirt.

I used to feel bad
when I used to
see your mouth filled
with paan,
But now I miss that too.

I really miss you,
Nai Appams aren't
that sweeter anymore.
