Chapter 1: Same Region, Different Perspective

May 13th

The young trainer, known as Kaori woke up.

'Oh come on.' Kaori said in her head. 'Don't want to wake up now...wait!'

Kaori got sat up quickly, now finally realizing what day it was.

'Finally! My tenth birthday! I can finally do what I've always wanted to do!'

The girl with brown hair and dark orange eyes, got out of bed and put on a red jacket, still unzipped, showing a black tee shirt, a pair of nice blue jeans and a mostly red backpack with black rims.

After getting fully dressed she ran downstairs. Her mother was in the kitchen making breakfast, but her father wasn't there, but that was to be expected after "The Incident" happened.

"Mom! I'm leaving!" Kaori shouted running towards the door.

"You haven't even eaten yet." her mother said.

"I know but I need to make sure I get the starter I want!" Kaori pouted.

"Fine." Kaori's mother said, rolling her eyes. "But once you get that starter of yours you better come back to eat before you do anything else."

"Alright!" Kaori said, putting on her black and blue sneakers. "See you Mom!"

"See you sweetheart! And don't forget!" her mother said.

"I won't!" Kaori said opening the door and running out towards Professor Oak's lab.

'I can't wait to finally make a name for myself!' Kaori exclaimed to herself.

Opening Starts (Yes I know this a Yu-Gi-Oh Opening but this is my Story, I choose the opening)

A couple minutes later, Kaori finally arrived, bolting in.

"Professor!" Kaori shouted followed by heavy panting.

"Kaori! Great to see you!" Professor Oak said apon seeing Kaori.

"So, where are the Pokemon? Don't tell me you don't have any left!" Kaori pleaded. She has waited for this day for so long, she didn't want to have that all be wasted.

"Unfortunately I have to say that I have no more. And I won't get more until next week." the professor said.

Kaori was devastated, knowing she had to wait at least one more week.

"However there I believe the museum in Pewter City is giving out Pokemon" Professor Oak said. "Not traditional starters, I believe they are giving out different ground types."

"Well any Pokemon is a Pokemon, I'm going!" Kaori said, determined to get a Pokemon at all cost.

"Well before you got I would like to give you this." Professor Oak said handing Kaori some sort of red Device. "Its a Pokedex. Use it to identify Pokemon."

Kaori nodded, then ran out to head to Pewter City. Sure, it was one town away, but Kaori was determined, knowing she needed to get a Pokemon.

A bit later, Kaori arrived in Viridian City. However this is when she made a realization.

'Damn I should've eaten, I'm starving' Kaori thought, absolutely regretting not eating breakfast.

However that's when she realized that there was a Pokemon Center.

'Yes! I can get some food!' She said to herself as she ran into the Pokemon Center.

A little while later...

"Dang this place is the best!" Kaori said now fully energized.

Kaori then heard a battle outside and decided to investigate. There were two trainers, one was a male, black hair, blue button up, black jeans and deep red eyes. The other was a female, purple hair with pink streaks in it, a white shirt with a Gengar silhouette on it, purple sweat pants and energetic bright yellow eyes. The female had a Beedrill on her side, while the male had a Charmander. However Kaori realized that the Charmander was a bit different. It seemed more like a female.

"Finish this with Poison Jab!" The female commanded. The Beedrill's stingers glowed purple as it flew towards the Charmander and before the fire lizard could react, the Poison Jab connected, sending Charmander flying back hitting the wall, fainted.

"Great job Beedrill!" The female said, the bee Pokemon buzzing happily in response as she returned Beedrill heading inside to heal it. However, the Charmander trainer was just staring at his Pokemon.

Then before Charmander could say anything, the trainer picked up the fire type by the neck.

"You useless Pokemon!!! I thought you were supposed to be strong! But in fact you're awful!" He said before throwing the Charmander back to the ground.

Kaori, now triggered by what this trainer was doing, ran towards the Charmander, picking it up and holding it in her arms.

"What do you think you're doing?" The male said.

"Protecting the Pokemon that you are mistreating!" Kaori snapped back. "Who even are you?!"

"My name is Damien." He said coldly, before throwing a PokeBall at Kaori. "Take this useless Pokemon if you want. Females are weak anyway."

Kaori was angered by his words but decided to take Charmander inside to have it healed.

While Charmander was being treated the girl with the Beedrill from earlier showed up.

"Hey!" The girl said, causing Kaori to jump a bit.

"Oh h-hey, sorry you just surprised me." Kaori said.

"Sorry it happens with me." She apologized. "My name is Toxia and I want to be a poison type gym leader one day! What's your name?"

"I'm Kaori, nice to meet you" Kaori said.

"Is that your Charmander?" Toxia asked.

"Well kinda, it used to belong to the trainer you faced earlier, but he gave it to me because he said is was weak." Kaori said.

"That's not true at all! That Charmander fought really hard and actually did really well!" Toxia said, with a bit of anger in her voice.

Kaori nodded in agreement.

"Well I have to get going, but I hope to see you around, maybe we can battle next time!" Toxia said.

"Yeah hope to see you around." Kaori agreed as Toxia left and a Chansey came out with Charmander on a stretcher, accompanied by Nurse Joy.

"Charmander is feeling much better now." Nurse Joy said with a smile on her face.

"Okay thank you so much." Kaori said.

"It's what we do here." Nurse Joy replied. "Chanseyyy" Chansey said.

Kaori took Charmander off the stretcher however Charmander, bit her arm causing her to let go of Charmander and she growled.

"Its alright Charmander, I won't hurt you like Damien did." Kaori reassured, however Charmander was still skeptical. Kaori then reached out. Charmander closed his eyes thinking she was going hurt her. However Kaori placed her hand on Charmander's head and started petting it. Charmander felt safe so she let Kaori.

"Now," Kaori said getting out Charmander's PokeBall. "Do you want to come with me and be my first Pokemon?"

Charmander happily nodded and jumped into Kaori's arms, crawling onto her shoulder. Kaori smiled and walked out of the Pokemon Center.

"Charmander, let's become the strongest we can be!" Kaori exclaimed, determined.

"Charmander!" Charmander exclaimed.

Kaori then started to walk off towards Viridian Forest, now, with her forever partner, Charmander.
