Chapter 2: Branching Out Our Dreams

"Ember!" Kaori commanded as Charmander shot a fire ball out of its mouth, however the wild Caterpie ran off before the attack could connect.

"Wait come back!" Kaori pleaded but Caterpie was already long gone. "Well there's always more Pokemon I can catch. Come on Charmander." Charmander got onto Kaori's shoulder as they began to walk off.

Opening

Kaori and Charmander were just about out of the forest.

"Charmander, do you think we can we can beat our first gym battle right now?" Kaori asked. Charmander just shrugged her shoulders.

"Maybe we need to get another Pokemon." Kaori said as they exited Viridian Forest and entered Pewter City. Charmander nodded.

Kaori entered the Pokemon Center and since it was getting dark, they decided to eat dinner and afterwards, got a room in the Pokemon Center, however they didn't know that someone or rather, something, was watching them as the two entered the room.

"Let's go to the museum tomorrow, they're giving put different ground type Pokemon." Kaori said to Charmander.

"Char!" Charmander replied.

"Lets just get some sleep now." Kaori said laying down on the bed. Charmander nodded, yawned then laid next to her, almost immediately falling asleep. Kaori smiled and shortly after also fell asleep.

May 14th 12:45am

Kaori woke up due to some light.

"Morning already?" Kaori groaned, however that's when she saw a Pokemon that looked like some sort of cloth spinning around some blue flames.

"What the-" Kaori said holding up her Pokedex.

"Shuppet, the Puppet Pokemon. A ghost type. Shuppet is attracted by feelings of jealousy and vindictiveness. If someone develops strong feelings of vengeance, this Pokémon will appear in a swarm and line up beneath the eaves of that person's home." The Pokedex spoke. This entry at first sent shivers down Kaori's spine. But then Kaori just decided to focus on what Shuppet was doing.

It seemed like the Shuppet was...crying? Tears were coming down its face.

'Why is it sad?' Kaori asked herself as the Shuppet stopped its performance.

Indeed, Shuppet was crying. Kaori however really liked how elegant Shuppet was moving so she just clapped. Shuppet looked at Kaori with shock.

"You're really good at preforming! You seem to have been practicing a lot!" Kaori praised.

Shuppet smiled at her comments, still crying, but probably out of happiness. Kaori was happy that Shuppet was happy.

"Hey Shuppet, do people normally get scared of you because you're a ghost type?" Kaori asked, genuinely curious. Shuppet gave a sad nod, which made Kaori a bit sad.

"Well I'm not scared." Kaori said. "Say, I do want to catch more Pokemon, what do you say? I can help you become better at preforming and contests and stuff like that, and you can also learn how to battle!"

Shuppet was a bit skeptical. She's never battled before. But Shuppet agreed anyway knowing that someone finally noticed that she wasn't a danger and just wanted a friend.

"Alright!" Kaori exclaimed getting out a Pokeball. "Now, let's help each other learn!" Shuppet smiled and tapped the Pokeball with its head as it wobbled a few times then it dinged.

"The first Pokemon I caught, a Shuppet!" Kaori exclaimed which almost woke Charmander up but thankfully, Charmander was still asleep. Kaori smiled and went back to sleep, keeping that smile on her face.

That morning, 8:30am

Kaori woke up to the sun shining through the window, but Charmander was still asleep. Kaori however didn't mind just getting up to go get ready.

After Kaori was finished, Charmander was just lying on the bed, awake but really tired.

"Charmander, I got a new Pokemon last night!" Kaori said, ecstatic as she got out the Pokeball and out came Shuppet. Charmander was a bit scared at first but knew Kaori wouldn't have a Pokemon hurt her.

"Now after breakfast we're gonna go to the museum to hopefully get another Pokemon. And then we'll go back to Viridian Forest to go find some trainers who are willing to battle so we're ready for our gym battle, so how does that sound?" Kaori explained. Charmander was ecstatic but Shuppet was a little unsure.

"Don't worry Shuppet, we'll try our best." Kaori reassured. Shuppet smiled.

"Now lets go eat breakfast, we got a long day ahead of us!" Kaori said as Charmander climbed onto her shoulder and Shuppet floated next to her. The three exited the room, determined to not only achieve their dreams, but to help others achieve theirs.
