Chapter 12

"WHAT?!" Ratchet yelled at the top of his lungs.

Becca cringed as she sat in Optimus' shoulder. The leader stiffened a bit as well, after telling his friend about his relationship with Becca. " Ratchet, please calm down-"

" Calm down?! CALM DOWN?! How can I calm when I hear you, Optimus Prime, an Autobot, courting a human?!" Ratchet questioned, pacing back and forth. "You both are completely different race of beings! Have you even considered how dangerous this could be?!"

The rest of the team stood back shocked, except Jack and Arcee, who looked a bit nervous.

Optimus hanged his head a bit, pain etched in his face. He was right. He didn't even consider about the dangers that could possibly happen.

Becca took in a sharp breath and fixed her posture. "Ratchet, listen." she said in a stern tone.

The old medic looked towards the blonde teen. She continued. " I know that you are concerned for both of us, but this is our decision. I know this might sound silly, but the feelings in my heart for Optimus is unlike anything I have ever felt before. I can't even describe it. It's like I can feel his emotions. Happiness, sadness, pain, anger, love. It almost scares me.... but it also intrigues me. I love him, Ratchet."

For a moment Ratchet stood there, staring at the two in deep thought. Then his optics widened a bit. " That can't be." He walked towards Optimus. "Optimus,do you think...."

Optimus nodded. " I believe that Becca and I have created a bond."

" Whoa...." Bumblebee bleeped.

" Well, I'll be." Bulkhead mumbled smirking.

Jack and Arcee looked at one another and nodded. " Ratchet, we need to tell you something too." Jack admitted.

Ratchet turned around and looked at the two for a moment, then groaned. "Oh no, not you two."

Arcee coughed nervously. " Yaaaa, we are actually more than just that...."

The room became so quiet, you could almost hear a pin drop. Ratchet looked as if he were going to blow a fuse. " YOU TWO ARE SPARKMATES?!"

The two of them jumped back from the volume of Ratchet's voice. They both nodded nervously.

" How is that even possible?!" He exclaimed.

Jack shrugged. " We just sorta figured it out."

Becca leaned towards Optimus' audio receptors. " What's a sparkmate?"

Optimus vented in and looked towards Becca. " I will explain it to you later." he whispered as he watched his old friend continue to rant at the two sparkmates.

Becca nodded and turned her head back towards the conversation.

" Come on doc." Bulkhead began, placing a servo on Ratchet's shoulder. "I know this isn't exactly normal, but Primus allowed the two to be together. Who are we to question him?"

Ratchet paused for a moment, then vented rubbing his helm. " You're right, Bulkhead. It's just..... I can't stand the thought of something going wrong. Especially for our human friends."

Optimus nodded. " I know you are concerned, old friend. But fate has brought Becca to me for a reason. Same for Jack and Arcee. Though it is something out of the ordinary, it could work."

" And Jack and I are ready to take the risk." Arcee claimed, kneeling beside Jack and holding each others hand.

" I am too." Becca added leaning against Optimus' cheekplate.

Ratchet grunted, but nodded. " Fine, but I am going to take some tests on both Jack and Becca, just to make sure that there are no problems."

" Understood." Optimus replied, smiling.

A few hours later

" Well..... that was a lot worse than I thought it was going to be." Becca remarked, standing on top of his berth.

Optimus chuckled, going through some data pads on his desk. " It could have been worse."

She smiled and nodded, " Ya, I guess you are right." she paused for a moment. "Optimus, I still want to know what a sparkmate is."

The Autobot leader looked over to his girlfriend and gave her a small smile. He sat up from his desk chair and walked over to his berth, sitting down next to her. " Well, to you humans, it is like marriage, except it is deeper than that." He began. "When two bots fall in love, they would form a bond like no other. It bounds them together forever. You can feel each others emotions and talk to each other in your mind. You have to make sure that you want to be with that one person, though. Because there is no turning back, unless your sparkmate becomes deceased."

" Oh wow." Becca breathed. " And that's what Arcee and Jack are?"

Optimus nodded. " Now Becca, this is very serious. Sparkmates are bound for life and we have known each other for a short while. I love you with all my spark, but I do not want to rush into anything like that just yet."

Becca nodded. " I agree, big guy. We need time to get to know each other more. To make sure our decision will be the right one."

Optimus smiled, gently scooping her up. He held her close to his chest."We can continue this another time. It's getting late."

Becca nodded, snuggling into Optimus as he lied down. " Goodnight Optimus." she murmured.

" Goodnight Becca." he replied.
