As soon as I approached them I saw they both seemed stressed or panicked about something

"what's happening?" I asked they both suddenly changed their dementor and started to act as if nothing had happened.

"Oh nothing I was just talking about the ball with Tom" Mattheo quickly said

"Yeah well I'm going to head out now," Tom said his face turning emotionless but I could sense he was thinking about something as he turned and walked out to the back door.

"Oh looks like the ball has started. Let's go," Mattheo said taking a hold of my hand and pulling me toward the ballroom. Then the ball began. Mattheo guided his hands to my waist and pulled me close our faces nearly touching each other. I couldn't help but stare into his eyes. As we both danced, he spun me around a couple of times smiling and I found myself smiling back. What's happening to me am I starting to actually like Mattheo no I can't no I won't he's a riddle something didn't feel right. There was this strange feeling something was going to end, but I ignored it and continued to dance with Mattheo for a while.

"What's wrong with you?" he asked. He must have caught me looking around

"Oh nothing I was just wondering where Anna and Isaac are" I lied "Oh right I think there with your father talking" he replied

"Can I ask you something?" I asked he hummed in response "what were you and Tom talking about you both looked worried or confused about something?" I asked I watched as his body stiffened up at my question he stared at me for a second and then answered.
"Y/n I told you it was nothing we were just discussing what's gonna happen during the ball," he said does he really think that I'm stupid enough to believe that he's lying to me there's definitely something he knows that I don't but I decided not to question him further because I knew it wasn't going to lead anywhere it wasn't going to be easy to get Mattheo to tell me the truth

"Alright then," I said suddenly
The music stopped and my mother began to speak

"as you all know the Slytherin ball has been happening for years in our generations and the main event of the ball is killing those mudbloods this year I'm proud to say my daughter y/n is the one chosen to do it," she said smirking while the others at the ball clapped including Mattheo. From the corner of my eye, I saw Anna glance at me. She seemed concerned as she whispered something to Isaac to which he nodded. I wonder what they were talking about but more importantly, where the fuck are Louis and Avery? I haven't seen them the entire time; where did they go?
I turned my attention back to everyone clapping. I looked back at them in disgust. I hated this ball from the beginning. I never wanted to be the one chosen to kill those muggles. They didn't deserve it but I didn't have a choice.
There are times when I wonder if I really care about these muggles, or if I am just acting to like them in order to hide everything I have done in the years past. Soon after, two guards walked in as well as three muggles all chained up. They looked restless and beat up they were begging to be let go of as if that mattered to any of the people here the scene was just cruel. If we were going there, I have seen far worse.
While walking forward, I pointed my wand at the three Muggles and stared at them intensely, as if I was waiting for the exact moment to kill them.

"Avada Kedavra!" I yelled as their lifeless bodies dropped down to the floor as the ballroom filled with claps and smirks. I stood there with a sight ringing in my ears, old memories flashing by.
Suddenly, I was snapped out of my thoughts by loud screams. I looked around and saw people running around the curtains and furnishings that were on fire. The fire was growing and spreading quickly.
