THE DUST HAS SETTLED...
"Fran! Please!" Flamberge said as she knocked on the, now encased in ice, wooden door blocking her from her blue sister. "Let us talk with you!"
No response could be heard from the other side. That could mean that no one is on the other side, or that someone in there just doesn't want to talk with them. Flamberge and Zan Partizanne already knew it was the latter. Flamberge was with Zan, who was on the floor, leaning against the wall with her head down.
"She's still not responding Zan," Flamberge reported to Zan as she sat beside her.
"Yeah, I see that. I don't think we ourselves will get a response from her anytime soon Flamberge. I hope Fran's doing alright..." Zan responded.
Flamberge was slightly pissed off. "That's bullshit Zan! Did you hear how she ranted to us?! She was desperate for comfort, for us as sisters, but all she could do was rant in tears! She isn't doing okay!"
"I-I know Flam. I... fuck. I feel so guilty over what she said back there... about how we weren't sisters anymore given that we followed Hyness's religion. I just wanted to know why she thinks that..." Zan responded.
"...It's because we've been treating her terribly, Zan," Flamberge said bluntly.
Zan was shocked at having the one guilt she had in her mind said straight to her face.
"I haven't considered how she felt going into the religion, and I didn't help her or supported her at all during her rant, or during the times of weakness back on the Jambahandra Base or the Jambastion. I haven't been a sister at all to her...I've been a sister to the Jambastion religion. Jamblasted..." Flamberge explained.
"...No, it's not even half your fault Flamberge."
Flamberge looked up at her.
"It's my fault. I was the one who dictated that we go find Hyness. I was the one that scolded her when she needed support and put her words of blasphemy above the cries for help. I was so wrapped up in trying to find you two as generals for Hyness and to please him, that I sulked for seven months in Ardentus on how I failed him. I was thinking about him and the re-....cult more than you two." Zan explained.
"...Yeah, I don't think that we should use 'religion' to describe it anymore. I'm not even gonna bother defending it anymore now that he's...gone." Flamberge agreed.
A "ha" escaped Zan in remembrance of the tragic, yet impressive moment.
"Who knew our little girl could do so much damage to someone?"
"She probably thought he deserved it. Why do you think she got that enraged?" Flamberge wondered.
"Probably saw Hyness and gave it her all," Zan answered.
"...Or maybe she saw Hyness about to kill Zubin and attacked him. I saw it before we got up." Flamberge refuted.
"Oh right, that boy. Zubin."
.
.
.
".Wait, what about HIM?" Zan asked.
"What? That he's probably 'Cia's best friend, or how he ties into our problem? Flamberge responded.
"Well, both. If he means enough to her to kill somebody, why not try using him to get to her?"
"...Not a bad idea Zan!" Flamberge agreed.
"Let's try it then." Zan got up. "Not like we have anything else we can do anyway.
