It took me a while to get here, I didn't know about planes so I rode here on horse, then on a train, when I got to this city, let me say, it took a while for me to adjust, the buildings were bigger then the ones in my last hometowns, and there was a lot more people around, when I got here I was lucky enough to even be able to find a place to stay and live, by this point, I knew I was taking another huge new step in my life, when I got to the place, once more it felt like I was in a alien planet, 'oh boy, I thought to myself,' this was gonna be even more difficult, but nothing that won't be handled easily, I reached in my pocket and took out a cutout of Gwess phone number, before I left, she gave it to me so that I could contact her, whenver I want to talk to her, so I kept it close to me at all times.
I looked around a bit until I noticed a phone booth nearby, judging from what I had heard of these things, they are suppose to help contact people from far away, wanting to give her a call, I walked over to the phone, I grabbed the half circled device, then looked down at the numbers, ' 555- 6566'.
I dialed in the number and awkwardly waited holding the thing to my head, it didn't really feel so comfortable for me, considering the fact that it literally felt like a buzzard or bee was making a noise in my ear, but nevertheless I waited for a good while for her to pick up, I stood there while I felt the surroundings of this new place, the air was certainly new here, there was certainly so many things that were new here, the vehicles were in this new style that I had not seen before, some of the style of outfits that people chose to wear here were, special looking and to add it more, there was a certain weird choice for how the streets were looking, they looked like some weird-
'Hello.'
Suddenly the familiar sounding voice, of Gwess came from the phone, I immediately spiraled up and placed it in my ear, 'uh Gwess, are you there,' I asked, looking at the speaking device.
A chuckle then suddenly came through the speaker, 'you actually called, well this is certainly a surprise, she remarked, 'almost thought it would take a month before your groveling for me again,' she remarked, 'I chuckled, 'Gwess, I am pretty sure you would be somewhat shaken as me right now if you were here right now,' I said, merely fiddling with the wire.
Another chuckle emanated from her mouth, 'oh believe me I have a pretty good idea of what your gonna face there,' she said, with charm, I actually spent a good year there one day myself, she revealed to me, 'so there are some things to be getting used to while your there.
Somehow, my new life here got interesting, we talked on the phone for a while, 'I just got here, where am I suppose to live in,' I asked, she told me I could try and look for the mail room where I would have to send a ticket to tell people that I was now an official citizen here in the city, and that was pretty hard for me to do, since going around this place felt like a maze, 'how is everything there at your place,' I asked, I could hear her sigh, 'oh, nice, she said, 'Gale here is trying to make me jump over a puddle, so there is nothing new here,' it suddenly doesn't feel the same without you here,' she remarked, I chuckled at the ironic deja vu, ' I'll return one day,' I said, 'I promise,' I then sent her a kiss on the phone and could hear her chuckle from the gesture, after hanging up I went ahead and headed to the direction I was suppose to go to had to ask some people for the directions to see where I had to go, when I got to the mail store.
I asked the lady for her to fill my citizen ship card, she told me that I simply had to sign my name on a couple of papers, then had to follow this long procedure, to be able to stay in this land legally, which I suppose made sense, when I was done, I ended up going outside with a new card in my hand, officially tying me to this place for the forseeable future , I then wandered around slightly when suddenly I bumped into another person, 'uh, I said,' sorry, I should have watched where I was going, I looked up and saw it was Mina herself, who was just out on the street visiting a couple of her friends, when she saw me I was nervous if she was gonna be upset that I bumped into her, but quite the opposite happens.
She smiled and walked over to me, from what I recall, she used to wear little bows around her hair to make them curl, 'I am Mina,' she said, 'and you are'.
I stumbled slightly on my introduction, 'Otto,' I said, 'Otto Smith.
Otto, she repeated, 'why that is a pretty common name,' she revealed.
'It is,'.
She then grabbed onto my hand, and introduced me to the person she was talking to, 'this here is my friend Jamie, he is a freshman, and we are currently studying for a Science test we are suppose to be taking today.
'A test'.
'Do you have a school then that I could apply,' I asked her calmly.
This time Jamie would respond, 'it is actually right off across the horizon.
Zed, said Mina suddenly, I looked at her confused, 'it's a fancy word for the letter z in British,' they explained, 'it is something that I learned in that school when I applied and you could learn some interesting facts yourself, I then walked right up close to her, 'are they applying new students,' I asked, 'the two of them looked at each other curiously, 'well, there is always new students coming every single year, they remarked.
When I followed the two to the school, I saw the size of it, it was pretty medium sized, there was a huge american flag on the front which I thought looked interesting, when I first applied there, they said they would expect me tomorrow, I was put on the Math group and so would be expected to do a bunch of Calculus equations, which I didn't really understand much back then.
'It's basically A new type of Math, explained Jamie, he would then try to explain to me the basics of the subject to me, but I managed to understand squat, 'uh, Is there a possible way to translate this better.
