Nice watch, she said pointing right at my wrist, where did you get it,' she was pointing right at the clock on my wrist, 'I got it from the store here, I said, in my hand I had a bucket of white paint and two paintbrushes in my other hand, 'my brother would have probably suggested it to me himself if he were here with me,' she glanced at me and grinned, 'so where do you intend to send your services to exactly, she asked, 'we have all the time in the world here, and I honestly couldn't answer, I was just planning to walk around and ask a couple of the people there, 'I am sure someone will accept, ' I said although I was still unsure of myself. We walked up to a man that was walking to his work I think, and asked him if he needed me to paint his house, he said no and continued on his way, I didn't have to look behind me to tell that she was giving me the I told you so glance.
Okay minor setback,' I said rubbing the back of my head, 'maybe the next guy will say yes.
She chuckled, 'well maybe so, but until then maybe we should go and do something else that ain't involve this, you won't just go and walk up to every stranger you see until they say yes right.
No, is what I said, though in my head that was shamefully what I was thinking of doing.
So after some convincing, Gwess managed to make me follow her putting my fliers on her pocket, 'come on I know a good restaurant to go and eat at,' she took my hand gently, I blushed as this was the first contact I had with a girl in a while, 'where did you had in mind,' I asked. She turned around and smiled at me, 'oh believe me this place is where they serve the best kind of food there is to offer.
She ended up taking me to this somewhat nicer restaurant then the once Mike and I went to, it had much more fancy looking wood, the structure looked a lot more modern and there were waitresses sitting around the whole place, 'if there was a good place where I would put my money to go to this would be the place,' she glanced right back at me 'you never know the perfect place unless you travel around to find it and then make the right snappy choice right on the dime,' I couldn't help but look around the place, it was fancy, I'll admit, everywhere I looked it seemed like some gentleman had gone and made it themselve.
Wow Gwess, I said you can afford this place.
She turned her head and grinned, 'of course I can,'I had been buying places like them for since my father had won me ma allowance, she then reached in her pocket and pulled out her check and showed it to me and jesus wept when I saw it.
The number was 12.34.
My jaw dropped, 'Gwess, you have that load of cash,' I said shocked, 'how did you get that much.
She chuckled, 'my cousin worked as a banker here, she revealed, 'of course she would be able to get me some of this amount,' she then put it in her pocket, and glanced up at the waiter, 'hey sir, we would like to order,' she asked for the meat dipped steak and I asked for a simple rice and chicken.
We then began to talk together for a while about old times, the food that we ordered tasted devine, it was like a flavor of explosions, we also had some root beer on the side, as a drink, to glug it down, we were then talking about many different cultures, our different adventures and experiences. Then, something happened.
In the middle of the conversation, things were beginning to get somewhat hot, I didn't know if it was me or not, Gwess and I had known each other since we were kids, and yet I never felt anything for her at that time, so I don't know what came over us, at one point while I was scraping my plate for leftover scraps, I noticed her looking at me, leaning slightly forward, by instinct, I leaned forward too, our breaths were syncronized and.
Impact.
We separated, our faces red.
Gwess grabbed her root beer and hid her face, 'sorry, she said, 'that got out of hand.
I shook my head, 'hey don't apologize, you- but I didn't know what to say.
We just sat there in silent, eating the remaining of our lunch.
a fever dream, it felt like I was in one of those soap operas that I watch on the telly, her father then invited me for dinner to stay, and being the nice guy I was I accepted.
