Once upon a time, in a big town in California lived a teenage girl and her family. Little did they know that soon their life was going to change, for better or for worse.
Gemma is a sophomore at North Ridge High School. She goes to school with her brother Alex, who is a junior. Gemma and Alex grew up being best friends, but the polar opposites. Alex is the big star quarterback for their schools three time state championship team. He made varsity his freshman year, and since then he has been "that" guy. He goes to all the big parties and bonfires, all the girls flock over him, and he is friends with everyone, and when I say everyone, I mean EVERYONE. Well, except the teachers. Gemma, she's the quiet book worm type of girl. Gemma doesn't like going to all the big parties and being in the middle of everything. She has friends, quite a few actually, but no one compares to her two best friends that she grew up with, Gabby and Silver. They do everything together, they even joined the schools dive team together. It's not that big of a sport, most people don't even consider it a sport, but they liked it. It was just them with one other girl, Ashley. Her and Silver are juniors like Alex, where as Gabby and Gemma are a year younger.
The school year was slowly coming to an end when Alex, Gemma, and their little brother, Robert, got the big news from their parents, "Okay, everyone, sit down, calm down. Kids, your father and I have some exciting news for you!" Their mother, Lisa, beamed. "Guys, I got a job transfer for teaching at a high school in Ackerly! We're moving to Texas!!" Their dad, Austin, announced. Robert didn't really care, he just wanted to get back to his video games, but for Gemma and Alex, they sat there and stared at their parents in complete and utter shock. "We move in two weeks. A week after you guys get out of school so that you can have sometime to adjust, get use to the town, and meet some friends before you start up at your new school next fall."
This. Can. Not. Be. Happening. Was all that Gemma could think at this moment.
