GEMMAS POV
"I can't believe you are leaving..." Sliver said as we were walking to practice after school.
"I know! Why can't you just move in with me, I have an extra room in my house that you can stay in." Gabby offered.
"I don't know guys. I'm going to miss you a lot, but maybe this will be good for me? Maybe I can reinvent myself?" I am trying to stay in the bright side of things, but I am not gonna lie. This move is going to be a lot harder than I am making it seem.
"Why don't we throw you a going away party!!? I can have my brother buy us booze, he can invite some of his friends, I can invite some friends, it will be great!! I will have each girl bring a single guy so we can try and find us a good hunk of meat to fool around with for the night." Gabby and I just ignored Silver, she has always been a little guy crazy. The longest relationship she has had was for a week, and that was in 7th grade.
"Uhhhh, or we can just have a girls night at my place? Just order Pizza and Chinese and watch movies on Netflix." Gabby suggest. Gabby and I have always thought more alike and had more in common. We like to just stay inside and keep to ourselves.
"Let's do..."
"Yeah! That sounds great! Just something small, something simple, and just with my two best friends. I love it!" I interrupted Silver with a smile. She sent me a small glare, she hates when we shoot down her party ideas. But oh well, she'll get over it, she always does.
"Okay so when should we do this?" I ask.
"School ends Tuesday..." Silver starts
"and you leave next Friday..."
"So we should do it this Friday!?"
"Okay!! Let me double check with my parents, and make sure we aren't doing too much packing. We're almost done." I say praying in my mind that they will let me do this. I don't get out of the house too much, so whenever I ask, my parents they usually say yes, but given the circumstances....**FAST FORWARD TO GIRLS NIGHT**
'DING-DONG'
Right now Silver and I are standing on Gabby's front porch waiting for her to answer the door. Her parents are out of town for the weekend and she doesn't have any siblings so we have the house to ourselves tonight.
"I'm really going to miss you when you move." Silver says starting to tear up.
"Oh don't cry Liv," I say hugging her. When we first became friends and started hanging out we decided to give each other nick names, she gave me Gem, and I gave her Liv. "It will be okay, we can FaceTime all the time! It will be like I never left."
That's when Gabby opened the door. You could smell the pizza and the Chinese food flouting in the air.
"Uhgggg I'm so hungry!!" Silver says as she runs into the house, I follow giving Gabby a hug on my way in. I put my stuff on the couch in the living room were I already see pop corn, soda, chips, and candy waiting for us to devour through out the night.
Gabby and I walk in to the kitchen and find Silver with pizza hanging out of her mouth and a piece in each of her hands.
"I'm so...hungry.....you know....I...I haven't.....eaten all day.....I saved....all my....calories....for tonight...." Silver admits in between bites.
"Okay geez, don't eat all the food in one sitting Silver. Save some for the rest of us." I said as I walked over to the Chinese carry out boxes.
"Alright ladies, let's get this night started!!" Gabby shouts.
After three chick flicks, two comedy's, five scary movies, four boxes of pizza, three boxes of spicy Chinese chicken, two cartons of fried rice, 2 bottles of Dr. Pepper, 5 bags of sour patch kids, and 2 bags of chips we were ready for bed. It was 6 am and I had to be home at noon to start packing again. I needed sleep.**NEXT MORNING**
"Hey honey, how was your night? Did you girls have fun?" My mom greats with a warm smile when I opened the door to get into the car. Unfortunately I don't have my license yet, I get it soon though! I turn 16 in September, so I get my license then.
I love my mom, I really do. She's pretty, really nice, she is always trying to help out and she isn't embarrassing like most moms. She had me when she was 20, which makes her 35 now, maybe that's why she's so cool, it wasn't too long ago when she was a teenager too. But I can't really help but be mad at her. I mean she is picking me up and moving my life thousands of miles away from my friends and from school, with all of my teachers and classes that I enjoy. "It was fun, we watched some movies and ate some junk. You know the usual."
"You girls are so boring, when I was your age, I went to parties, I went to the movies, and to parks. All you guys do is sit at home." My mom complains.
"Well, would you rather me going out and getting drunk, doing drugs, and maybe getting pregnant?" I ask her. This is a constant conversation we have, especially when she picks me up from a friends house. Whenever I bring getting pregnant up she stops.
The rest of the ride home was quiet. As I got out of the car she told me that I had to start packing my room, I have been procrastinating, more like revolting. I have refused to pack, but in order for me to go to Gabby's last night I promised to get my room done when I got home.
This is going to me a long week....**FAST FORWARD TO FRIDAY**
"Are we all ready? Does everyone have everything?" My mom calls out to the boys before we pull out of our drive way. Today was our last day in California, we leave for our new "home" today. It's a 15 hour drive. Thank god me and my mom are taking one car and the boys are taking another. It would be one hell of a ride if all five of us plus our dog had to ride if all five of us were in one car.
"Yep, I think we're ready to go!" My dad calls back with a smile as he puts his car into reverse. We pull out and head towards the highway that leads us east. After a few hours on the highway it was officially time to say goodbye to my home, it was officially time to say goodbye to the place that I grew up in, it was officially time to leave California, a place that has been so familiar to me for so long. As we pass the border of California to Arizona, I whispered a little goodbye, and my eyes began to threaten storms of tears. I think my mom knew this was going to happen because she grabbed my hand and squeezed it. "It'll be okay darling, I promise."
