(A/N: I recommend listening to We Belong Together by Ritchie Valens, or the cover by Los Lobos, when Violet reads San's letter.)
Violet's POV:"Hey Violet, you got a letter." Wooyoung said with a mischievous smile. Knowing him, he probably already read it. "Does it say who it's from?" I said as I closed my laptop. Valentine's day was always dreadful to me. Especially since he left.
"No, but it's a purple envelope." He said looking at it curiously. Upon hearing that, I immediately got up from my desk and snatched it from his hands. I broke the seal and took the paper out as I placed the envelope on my desk.
I scanned through the paper trying to read it as fast as possible but stopped midway. "I know this handwriting." I muttered to myself as I gathered my belongings and ran out of the classroom to follow Wooyoung.
"Wooyoung! Wait up!" I exclaimed as I chased after him. "Violet, can I have a word?" somebody called. I turned to see who it was, but I wasn't pleased to see that person. "Not now, Wonwoo. I'm busy." I said looking for Wooyoung but he was nowhere to be found. "Just for a minute. I just want to apologize." Wonwoo insisted. "Jeon, save it. I didn't need it then and I surely don't need it now." I said walking away with the purple envelope in hands.
I was about give up but as soon as Seonghwa came out of the classroom, I started a chase. "Seonghwa! Seonghwa!" I called out as he too started running. I sprinted even faster and grabbed the collar of his shirt, causing him to halt his steps.
"Where is he?" I demanded as I tried to catch my breath. "Violet I-" "Park Seonghwa, you tell me where he is right now before I throw your ass down these steps." I said through gritted teeth. "Violet, chill out." Wonwoo called out. "Keep your ass out of it, Jeon." I spat.
"He's downstairs. Courtyard." Seonghwa confessed trying to get out of my grip. I let go of him and ran down the stairs occasionally skipping a few. I heard some running behind me, so my instinct was to outrun them. Something I did successfully.
"Where are you?" I said as I desperately looked around. "It's empty." I heard a tired Seonghwa. I turned on my heels and faced them. "What do you mean it's empty?" I said containing both my anger and tears. "He isn't here." Wonwoo said as he caught his breath.
Full of disappointment, I pushed them out of my way and headed towards the empty tennis courts. I sat in the dark spot near the wall and let my tears fall. "Where are you? Why did you leave me?" I whispered to myself. I grabbed the letter once more and read it to myself again.
My lovely Violet,Things haven't been the same since I fell for you. I regret listening to my parents and leaving you behind, but I promise to be there very soon. The boys won't tell you anything, so don't try. I promised to be there when love was in bloom and flowers appeared in everyone's hands, right? Just have a little faith and patience. We'll see each other sooner than you think. For now, ask Yunho and Mingi to give you your gifts.
See you soon, Nani;)
"Now you read it completely?" I heard Yunho say beside me. "You knew and you didn't say anything. Stay away from me." I said sliding away from his as I wiped my tears. "Violet, he made us promise. We love him just as we love you. We can't spill his secrets and ruin your surprise, now can we?" He said with a chuckle.
"I just hate that nobody tells me anything. Not even if he's okay." I said holding the letter to my chest. "He's more than okay. Just a little heartbroken at the fact that he has to leave you waiting." Yunho said wiping the tears away.
"But he is here, right?" I insisted. "Violet, you will meet him today. For now, just be a little patient and open the gift he left with me." He pulled me up and walked to towards the lockers. Seonghwa, Wooyoung and Wonwoo all stood there, but I just pushed past them. Even if San explained, I was still sad at the fact that they tricked me and just ran rather than explaining things to me.
"He left two with me. You pick which one to open first." Yunho said, pulling me from my thoughts. "Purple really is his color." I said with a small smile as I looked at the purple-colored wrappings. I grabbed a small box and opened it only to reveal a hoodie.
"Wait, Nani left this for me?" I asked with a smile plastered on my face. "Of course. He knows you love that hoodie." Mingi said as he joined us. I took the hoodie and put it on. "He sprayed his cologne on it, didn't he?" I said with a small laugh.
"He was so worried you forgot about him. He really wants you back. Trust me." Yunho said with a laugh as he handed me the second gift. A slim, rectangular box was now in my possession. I looked at Yunho and Mingi and they signaled me to open it.
"What the fuck." I whispered. He kept it? After so long? "What's wrong?" Mingi asked. "It's just that... This is our matching necklaces. This is mine. I gave it to him when he left." I rambled in disbelief. "You'd be surprised at all the things he's kept." Mingi said as he took the necklace and put it on me.
"Mine next!" He exclaimed excitedly. I laughed and nodded. He pulled out a single white rose and a small box. "How did it not wilt?" I asked with a laugh. "I don't know how the fuck it survived, but he surely won't be kicking my ass." Mingi said in relief. I laughed and took both objects in my hands.
Holding the rose in one hand, I managed to open the box. I nearly dropped the box as I saw the polaroids. "They're just pictures. Chill it out." Wooyoung said. "Shut it." I snapped at him. "He's home? IN MY HOUSE?" I whisper yelled. The bell rang indicating the end of the day. I ran out of the school, leaving all the gang behind while I sprinted home.
"I swear if he's not there I'm going to hunt him and kick his ass." I said with a laugh as I made a turn to my block. I lived pretty close to school, so I got there in no time. I walked in and found the house empty. I closed the door and caught my breath. I sighed and walked to the kitchen to grab water.
"Fuck. At this point, I should just join the track team." I said with a laugh before taking a sip. I walked out of the kitchen and went upstairs towards my room. I entered and threw my backpack on the floor, and it was then I finally realized somebody had been here.
"What the fuck." I said as I looked at the room. "Choi San, you're such a romanticist." I laughed at his details. I walked to the bed and grabbed one box that caught my eye. I removed the lid cautiously and was faced with his piece of our matching necklaces.
"Mind helping me with it?" I heard him speak from the door. I wasted no time and ran directly to him. In a matter of seconds, I was drenching his cardigan with tears. "Vivi, this is my outfit for our date." He whined. I laughed at his childish remark and hugged him tighter.
"I love you, you moron." I said with a small laugh. "You still do?" He asked as he removed his cheek from my head to look at me. "I never stopped loving you." I replied. "Even when you kissed Wonwoo?" He asked. "I don't know who told you I kissed him, but they lied. He kissed me against my will when he was wasted." I explained.
"I'm kicking his ass when-" "You will do no such thing. Now, come here so I can put this necklace on you." I spoke. He gave me a smile, one I longed to see for years. He lowered himself a bit and I wrapped my arms around him to close the clasp of necklace, but he had other plans. Losing no chances, he leaned in and stole a peck.
"I missed you so much. It's been hell." He said pulling me closer to him. "I missed you too. I thought I was never going to see you again." I confessed whilst in the hug.
"I would never abandon you. I know I left momentarily, and I apologize, but I will never ever abandon you. I'm too in love with you." He confessed taking my hands in his.
"Nani, why are you saying that? Aren't your parents going to be mad?" I asked. "I listened to them and nearly lost you. You, the person who has been there for me unconditionally. You waited for me, even when you didn't know if I was coming back. You're worth every risk I'll take." He said with a smile.
"Can I have the white rose Mingi gave you?" He requested. I nodded and picked it up from my desk. I handed it to him, and he thanked me. He started plucking out the petals and I stood there in shock.
"N-Nani, what are you-" "Violet Amarie Kang, will you allow me to put your hand on hold until we are able to get married?" He asked he got on a bended knee.
Out of the white rose, he took out a silver ring that held a little pink quartz. Rose quartz, I believe. Truly beautiful. Brely having any time to think, my mouth flew open and uttered words unconsciously.
"San, I allow you to put me on hold until we are able to get married." I said with a smile. His eyes sparkled beautifully before a wide content smile appeared on his face.
Wasting no time, he pulled me in an embrace and kissed me. Oh, how I've missed those lips. The sweet taste of cherry flavored lip balm, still there.
"I love you, Violet. I truly do." He said as he gently held my face in his large hands. "Nani, does this mean we're engaged?" I asked with a small laugh as I admired the ring that now adorned my finger. "Not yet my love. I want to get you a real engagement ring. Propose to you like I've dreamt of." He said with sparkly eyes as we swayed together.
"I love you, you hopeless romantic." I said before stealing a kiss. "Can you blame me? We've been together for nearly five years now." He said as we continued to sway. "That year you left doesn't count." I said with a laugh. "We never called it off, so.... technically we were still together." He said with a sly grin.
"Choi San, you are lucky I love you." I said with an eyeroll.
"I'm the luckiest man, and I owe that to you."
I'm sorry. I just love Nani too much:') -Vermilion:):
