3rd Person POV:
"And the winner by technical knockout is.... from Busan, South Korea....Jeon Jungkook!" The announcer spoke. And so, the well built athlete raised both arms and let out an astonishing roar that made the crowd go wild. Some people started to walk out as their favorite contestant had lost, but this went completely unnoticed by the celebrating fighter.
"Happy fiftieth!" His trainer excitedly congratulated. "Happy fiftieth, Don!" He said as he did a victory lap around the ring before shaking hands with his opponent. "Sorry for the blood bath, man." He spoke. "No worries, bro. It was a pleasure to experience the wrath of the raging rapid rabbit." He said before the bro hugged and parted. "Huh. Raging Rapid Rabbit does sound nice." He said with a proud smile.
Fast forward to the current day. A fine Friday early morning in the gym, training as one usually does. Well, at least him. "Where is Don?" He questioned as he paced around the gym. Seeing as his personal trainer was nowhere to be found, he decided to ring him up.
"Don, pick up the damn phone. You said you'd be here by four and it's already thirty passed. Ring me up asap." He spoke calmly, but subtly, one could tell he was pissed. "Great. What the fuck do I do know?" He asked as he huffed in annoyance. If there was one thing this man completely held hatred to, it was impunctuality and dishonesty.
Completely caught up in his rage fit, the presence of a young woman went unnoticed to him. That was until he heard the sound of the punching bag receiving a beating. And by beating, it meant beating. He could easily tell when a person was throwing good blows, and this was no exception.
Although, he was completely taken aback and faced with a different version of what he thought. Surely those strong blows pertained to a well-built man, but he was very far from the truth. The strong blows he heard, pertained to none other than the only female in the establishment at the time.
She defied all of his thoughts. She was slightly voluptuous and looked quite young. Standing in complete awe, he failed to notice that said woman was now calling him. Shaking his head and landing from his trip, he finally spoke.
"Huh?" He spoke. "I said, do you need anything?" She asked in an annoyed tone. He, once again, was shocked. Did she have any idea who she was speaking to? He was the one and only lightweight champion and she spoke to him like that? He was truly impressed.
"Those are some strong punches you're giving." He complimented. "Careful or you might get one." She said as she continued with her routine. "Care to help me with my training?" He asked with an enthusiastic smile. "Kinda busy." She said as she continued to beat the bag. As she threw the final blow, Don walked in.
"Panthress! I see you met my top dog." Don greeted the woman. Panthress? Was she the girl everyone spoke about? "This is the one you've been talking about?" She questioned as she looked at the slightly older male. "What's that supposed to mean?" Jeon finally spoke. "Nothing. You just defy things I've heard." She said as she stopped her swinging bag and wiped her sweat away.
"What might those things be?" He said inching closer. He was definitely growing curious but also outraged by the lack of respect she was showing. Afterall, he was top dog and had much more experience than her. Or so he thought.
"People say your aura is dark and powerful. I'll give you dark, but powerful and threatening? Not so much." She casually shrugged. "So, you don't fear Triple R?" Don asked with a chuckle. "Don, I thought you knew me better." She spoke with a 'tsk' sound. The male fighter felt surprised. She didn't fear him at all. She spoke her emotions and thoughts and he admired that, honesty.
"What's your name? Like, real name." He requested. "You really wanna know?" She spoke as she walked backwards towards the quadrilateral. The boy looked at her completely astonished as to how she was testing the waters with him. Something not even Don dared to do.
"What'd I gotta do?" He asked with a daring smile. Don knew what was coming and he feared for both of them. Afterall, he had personally trained both athletes. "Ain't no way in hell Imma let that happen. Panthress, don't even say it. R, don't try it." Don warned both fighters.
"Relax, Don. I'll go easy on her." He said as he patted his arm and headed for his gear. Panthress, however, couldn't help but laugh at his rather silly comment. "Panthress, you sure you wanna take on him? He's been out here training like a beast this past month." Don warned.
"Oh, don't worry dear Donnie. You'll have your little playboy bunny in one piece. I'll go easy on him." She said as she sipped on water and let Don apply some Vaseline on her cheeks. Indeed, this fight was going to be fair and square. No discrimination.
"Mouthguards on?" Don asked. The athletes nodded and proceeded to get their wrappings checked alongside their gloves. "I want a clean fight. Nothing behind the head or below the belly button. Understood?" He asked. Both parties nodded and clashed gloves.
Now, more people were in the training complex. Some of them stopped their routine to witness such battle. Others paid no mind and carried out their duties. Soon, the bell rang indicating the beginning of the first round. Once again, both parties clashed gloves and got to the move.
There was a tension. One not too thick but definitely there. Don knew Panthress was fast and strong. An honor she made to her name. Jungkook, however, was a beast. He showed no mercy to his opponents, until he won. But then again, who said Panthress did?
"Oh shit. Panthress really got him on that one." Don heard someone say. Fixing his gaze on the ring, he saw Jeon with a red cheek. "That's my girl." He thought. For as much as Don loved Jeon, Panthress was his goddaughter. One of his first apprentices. Of course, he held her dear to his heart. She was basically his daughter.
"Jab, Jab, left right." He whispered as if to indicate Jeon. Jeon, in fact, did follow those orders, but only managed to connect one jab on her shoulder. "You sure are fast for a little kitty cat." Jeon spoke as he prepared for their next move. "Not bad for a little bunny either. But careful..." She said before connecting yet another punch.
"Cat's a hunter." she said before throwing a hard uppercut sending her opponent stumbling backwards. Jeon fell back and laid on the floor for a second. "What the fuck just happened?" He muttered out. Don started the countdown and Jeon took it as a sign to sit up and shake his head.
Panthress was sure to be merciless, but she knew when to let it slide. To Jeon's surprise, he found a black and ash blue glove extended out towards him. Looking up, he saw his opponent smiling down on him. He felt confused. How could you nearly knock someone out and then help them back? This was a fight. What is she doing?
"Get up, bunny cakes. We still got a minute." She spoke. He wasted no time and took her hand. Don checked Jeon's pupils and took the opportunity to talk some sense into him. "Don't push it any further. Kitty cat bites hard." He whispered. Wrong move, Don. Jeon smirked and got to his corner before resuming with said fight.
"Let's go Panthress!" Some people yelled. Some other chanted for Jeon and that motivated him. Managing to connect yet another jab, he felt proud. Only this time, Panthress planned on ending the round. Wasting no time, she connected a hard combo of two jabs and one hook. Yet again, the male experienced defeat.
Don rang the bell and called Panthress over while somebody else took care of R. "What's up?" She panted. "Thought you said you'd go easy." He chuckled as he put more Vaseline on her eyebrows and cheeks. She spat her mouthguard into the bucket and took a sip of water.
"For every punch he throws, I throw him three. 'See how good he really is." She spoke with a smile. "And?" Don asked. "You're doing amazing. He just needs to work a little more on his speed and cross. Kinda gets him lost." She spoke. Don nodded and put her mouthguard back on.
"How many rounds are you doing?" He asked. "I give him three more." She spoke before her gaze landed on her opponent who wore a confident smile. "Alright Mister Arrogance. 'See how long that smile lasts." She whispered to herself before Don rang the bell.
Once more, they clashed gloves and started going around. "You're doing this to get my name?" She asked as she dodged his jab. She found that was his specialty, so she knew when one would come. Panthress learned to read her opponents quick and good. That, however, was something Jeon didn't know.
"That and to prove you wrong." He said as he aimed for another punch. Surprising her with a punch to the ribs, Panthress laughed at the punch. Yeah, it hurt, but she was trained to endure. "How so?" She asked as she aimed for a cross on his face. "Let's go!" The small audience cheered as she connected it.
"I'll prove I am a menace. You just need to test it." He said as he returned the cross she had served him moments prior. "Sounds like a plan." Unknowingly, she had pushed his buttons. All of them. Don knew shit was about to get rowdy, but he trusted his trainees.
Panthress now made it her mission to knock Jeon out by the next round. She knew it wasn't going to be easy, but she knew it wasn't impossible. Smiling to herself, she let herself go. "Sorry Don. Might need to break the promise." She whispered jumping into warzone.
Connecting two hard clashes against her opponent's torso, she then aimed to reward him with an uppercut Don had seen her win with. At the sight of such action, Don's eyes grew with worry and surprise. Could his Triple R dodge it or take it? He had no idea.
Don closed his eyes and heard the sound of a loud thud and complete silence from the small crowd. Growing mortified, his eyes flew open only to find his precious athlete on the floor once more.
"Ten!" An assistant called. Don was shocked. He surely knew Panthress was strong and agile but to take on a bulky boxer like that? God bless anyone crossing her path. "Get up, R. You got this champ." He muttered. "Seven!" How did they get to seven so quick? Was he really that busy praying for his top dog? "Four!" And still no sign of Jeon's lights. He was knocked out. She did it.
"Two!" Everyone held their breath in hopes he would get up. Don was at the edge of his seat, ready to check on his fighter, but just then everybody went berserk. "Triple R's back!" They cheered. Jeon leaned on the ring bands and stabilized himself. Miraculously.
Don's assistant checked on Jeon and nodded. He got up but couldn't continue. Panthress had outdone him. Don sunk into his chair in pure disbelieve. Had she really managed to outdo his pride and joy? Hell yeah, she did.
"Winner by knockout is... Panthress!" And soon, the audience cheered for her. Her arm went into the air and that's when it hit Jeon. He lost. Jeon just sat on the floor, looking as lost as ever. "What the fuck was that?" He said as the room spun. "Thanks." He heard her say before she walked his way.
The crowd had begun to sparse, which helped both athletes speak calmly. Panthress sat in front of him and began to undo his gloves. Once one hand was set free, he pulled his mouthguard out and threw it in the bucket before he wiped his hand on the cloth Don handed him.
"That was one hell of a fight." He spoke. "You've been training more, I see." Don complimented his goddaughter. "Not really. I came here cause Chris and I broke up and I needed to free my anger." She spoke with a laugh. "Should've stayed your ass away from her." Don laughed in Jeon's way.
"Yeah. It was nice fighting with her though." The male shrugged. Panthress nodded and proceeded to cut his bandages. "Why'd y'all break up?" Don questioned. "Cause he cheated on me and I beat his ass. Mama came and said she would take me to court, but I have footage of his aggressions." She said with a proud smile.
"Why are you smiling? That man could come back." Don panicked. "I got it. She might've beat my ass, but I bet he can't beat me." Jeon said. "Oh, you'd give him a nice kick in the ass. Trust me." She spoke with a laugh.
"I'll go get an ice pack." Don said before walking away. "You pictured I was him, didn't you?" He asked with a laugh. "No. I just wanted to prove your arrogant ass that saying what you plan on doing can get you to lose." She laughed, earning her an eye roll from the male.
"My name's Ivy. Jung Ivy, Ivy Jung." She finally revealed. "Nice fight, Vivi." He teased. "Thanks, knob head. Wanna go eat sum?" She asked as she got down from the boxing ring. Jeon stood up and leaned against the bands looking at her with a coquettish smile.
"I'd be honored, Panthress." And that is how two of the most notoriously dangerous boxers ended up forming a dynamic duo nobody could ever compare to. Both with a strong ego and character. Both with an immense power in the quadrilateral. Both with a heart of gold they shared with the other. Both with nothing but desire to be better and be loved.
'Twas kinda cute ngl. Lmk how I'm doing<3- Vermilion:):
