"Hey! Look! We did make about ten buck!" Dustin cheered, lightly swaying his hat around, as they were walking their way back to their home "Maybe we can stop by the store real quick and pick up some more crayons for Will."
"Maybe--" Jonathan started till his eyes landed right on Nancy, who was running towards them. Jonathan started to worry about what's going happening when she began cheering.
"I got the job!" Nancy shrieked as she hopped into Jonathan's arms, "I got the job! I'm going to be a typist!"
"That's great Nancy.... what is that?" Jonathan told her.
"I get to work on this typewriter machine and type down stories and other things." Nancy explained, "Oh! And there's a photographer's job open and I suggested you, so you have a meeting with the head of the reporter tomorrow around noon."
"Awesome!" Jonathan cheered.
"So how was the park?" Nancy asked.
"It was fine until we had trouble." Jonathan admitted to her. Nancy's eyes narrowed.
"Oh my God, what happened?"
"Just for the record, it was the jock who started it all not Eddie or me." Dustin blurted out; Eddie's head popping out from the pocket and nodding his head.
"Apparently a jock had said something about Eddie, Eddie reacted by hitting him with a stick... then Eddie attempted to continue hitting him that same stick. Thankfully they left, but then when I was lecturing them they shouldn't behave like that, Eddie threw a stick at me." Jonathan claimed to her. Eddie began squeaking loudly at him and waving his tiny wing at them.
"Eddie, we don't speak bat." Nancy reminded him. Eddie mumbled a 'meh' before sinking back into Dustin's pocket. Nancy chuckled, shaking her head.
"But the good news is we made about ten bucks." Dustin assured her. Before Nancy could wish him a good job, their attention shifted behind them.
"Don't worry, you'll get it next time." they turned to see Billy and Steve walking up the road. Steve looked disappointed.
"Hey guys!" Nancy called to them, "Everything alright?"
"Steve didn't get the job he wanted at the movie store." Billy explained.
"Oh, it'll be okay Steve." Nancy assured him as she hugged him.
"But I got a job as a lifeguard. It's only a summer's gig but it works." Billy stated, grinning from ear to ear.
"That's great Billy... has anyone seen Robin?" Nancy asked. Just as she had asked, Robin was spotted rushing around the corner and towards them.
"Robin?" Jonathan called out.
"Run! Everybody... RUN!!!!!" She screamed. They were confused at first until they saw a light blue van pulling up from behind her.
"Shit! Go, go, go, go, go--" Steve screamed at them as they rushed down the street. They ran as fast as they could down the road before scurrying into the woods. They kept running over the hills and in between the trees; their lungs burning from the cold breeze and their hearts pounding deep within their ears. It wasn't long before they ran into a clearing, their heads darting around to make sure they lost the scientists.
"Okay head count!" Steve screamed while he walked around the group, "Max, Billy, Lucas, Mike, El, Dustin, Eddie, Nancy, Robin, Jonathan, and Will?"
Everyone responded with a here, Eddie gave a light squeal... all except Will.
"Will?" Steve repeated as he turned his head as he couldn't find him in sight, "Where's Will?"
Everyone turned around, their eyes darting around in horror as they began calling out his name.
"But-- but he was right here!" Mike shouted pointing at the spot beside him, "He was right beside me! I swear! He was right here!"
"WILL!" Everyone began shouting louder as they walked over towards the edge of the woods, looking within the trees, hoping Will would pop out from between the trees soon...
But he never did.
