Chapter 17: Juicy

Me and Maxwell were almost home when we had to fill up on gas for the car. We pulled into the gas station at pump number 6.

"You want anything bae." Maxwell asks me.
"No,.I'm good. Just ready to go home. I say turning to look out the window.

Just as I was looking out the window, my eyes made contact with a familiar face that I dreaded to see.

It was like time stood still because all I know was his eyes were as big as mine.

He stepped out the car and it was like I saw a ghost.

It was JRoc.

When Maxwell saw him, all hell broke loose.

There were no words just bullets.

I ducked down in my seat trying to get into the back.

I put my hands over my head and began to scream for Maxwell.

All I could think about was Maxwell and that night my brothers killed that man.

Just as quick as it started it ended.

It was silent.

I slowly eased out the back seat, and then Maxwell jumped into the drivers seat and started to take off in the direction of Compton.

I looked at him, there was blood and sweat dripping from him.

Baby, you are hurt. I say jumping into the passenger seat.

I'm fine it is just a scratch.are you hurt. He ask me looking me up and down.

Maxwell grabs his phone out the glove compartment and dials up my brother.

Yo Man, me and JRoc crew was just in a shootout. Maxwell says while making a sharp right turn.

He was silent for a minute..

Yea Man we on the way back to Comp. Maxwell says.

Maxwell looks at me.

Yea, here she is. Maxwell says while handing me the phone.

Wessup sis, you straight. Rex asks me.

Yea I'm OK. Just a little scared. I say.

Well you know it is gone be a war now right. He says.

A war!! I don't need this type of shit in my life. I just want to enjoy my life as a teenager and enjoy my senior year. This is not my life this is y'all life. I say on the verge of crying.

Look Man, that bitch Roxy still go to school with you and I don't trust that hoe. Rex says.

Just tell him we on the way. Maxwell says to me.

Maxwell says we are on the way. I tell Rex.

I didn't want to be apart of this. I said crying.

Maxwell rubs my back trying to ease the pain I was feeling.

We pull up to my home and o unlock the door to see Rex sitting on the sofa.

Where is Shawn? I ask.

Shid I don't know. He wasn't here when I got back. Rex says.

Rex's phone begins to vibrate.

He gets up to take the call and me and Maxwell head to my room.

I throw myself onto my bed in relief. I missed my bed so much..

Maxwell sat in the plush seat in the corner and stared at his phone. I looked at him admiring his sexy body. I wanted him bad but we had to slow down. Just as I was staring at him he looked up at me, catching me staring him down.

What you looking at. He asks while licking his lips.

Nothing, I thought you had something on you. I lie.

He laughs and shakes his head.

I pick up my phone out my purse to see that I have an unknown video message.

I open the message and my eyes got wide.

I wanted to cry so bad. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Maxwell ran to me as I dropped the phone.

He picked the phone up to see what was on there.

He rushes out the room and just before he could get down stairs, a shot rang out and my heart hit the floor.
