kassie

"KASSIE!" my moms voice echoed through the forest.

i was young, so very young and me and my mother were walking through the forest one late evening. the moon look closer to  the earth then its ever been before . hidden behind a few clouds it still shinned proudly as if it owned the night sky. it wasn't a clear night but it was still just as beautiful as any other.

a firefly showed itself in the middle of the path and my intention was to catch it. i leaped for it but i moved just out of my reach and into the bush. i trailed after it going deeper and deeper into the woods the path behind me slowly fading into darkness as i searched for the glowing insect i could hear my moms voice in the distance calling me back to her.

"KASSIE!! COME BACK HERE!"

"coming mommy" i left the bug sitting on a leaf and headed back. once i reached the path, my mom was standing in one spot looking out into the woods.

"mommy what are you looking at?"

she looked down at me and smiled "nothing sweet heart lets move along in the path and no more wondering off its not safe on your own, your still only 6."

she moved so gracefully and i couldn't help but think that she was floating, i wished i could walk like that. she looked like she was gliding over  the roots and rocks. her long brown hair seem to catch the  shin of the moon light and her skin look so light and fine. however her face was cautious as she look ahead of us.

it was only until i herd his voice that i saw him. in the shadows stood a man in a formal suit he looked as though he had just come from one of those snobby dances the uptown people would put on just so they could show off there money.

mom stopped and lightly tucked me behind her so i was partly hidden by her long skirt. "what do you want, Mr.drake?" her voice was cold

"now Charlotte, no need to be so formal." his voice was like sand paper.

"you did not answer my question and you are disrupting my walk with my Daughter."

"ah yes your young girl, my how shes grown since the last time we met." he smiled slyly at me

"Mr. drake your testing my patience"

"I've come to warn you, your child has been seen as a threat they will be coming for her."

"they will have to kill me first!" i could hear the anger in her tone rising

"now, don't be rash!" he snapped "take your family and leave!"

"we will not run away" she yelled back

"then your family will die and they will take her."

i bolted awake sweat dripping down my forhead. this wasn't the firsttime i had thoat dream more dreams like that have been taking place each night. moments of my past that seemed to come rushing back to me like piecing of a puzzle suddenly being found.

by the amount of noise coming from outside the tent it was safe to say that everyone was just starting to get up anyway. April had already left for either break fest or early training.

i pulled myself out of bed, grabbed my towel and other thing needed to take a shower and headed off for the shower rooms. the shower area was just about 10 showers lined up beside on another. after the water was a perfect temperature i jumped in.the fresh water felt so good against my skin and it washed away all the negative feelings from the dream.

i wasn't the only person in the showers so talking and whispering filled the area and not wanting to hear their conversations i began to sing. i kept changing songs until i remembered one that i knew of by heart and kept singing it until i got it right it was 2am by Anna Nalick.
