kassie

i stepped out of the shower into my bathroom which was filled with steam. i had to clear a spot on the mirror in order to look at myself, i wrapped a towel around me and walked back into my room. it was still sitting there, right where i had left it. on my desk lied a beautiful sliver box with my name carved on the top.

i didn't sleep at all that night. my mind wouldn't stop racing around that box the possiblities that the box itself held. it was something from my past and i couldn't help but think it was important. i needed to know what was in it, it could tell me who i am. i know nothing about myself and this was my ticket to find out.... i hoped.

as i dried my hair and applied my makeup my eyes keep wandering over to the box reflected in my mirror. how  could something no bigger the a jewelery box get me so confused and drive me so crazy. there were so many possibilities to what was inside that box. things from my past or things from the present. HECK i was even starting to think something from the future was tucked away in there .

my mind continued  to wander as i picked out a outfit. i went with my running shoes, shorts, pink tank top and a purple sweater. it was warm enough out to cook eggs on the sidewalk. come to think of it summer vacation was almost here. which meant this small town would be covered with people. that also meant school would be out soon.

looking at the time it was a little past 4:30 and Logan would be here soon to pick me up for our date. when i was done getting ready i slowly walked over to the box and picked it up again. carefully analyzing it, there had to be some way to opent it. looking at it i noticed that on the sides there were letters scattered in the beautiful vine patterning but i couldnt make out what it said.

running my fingers across the surface i traced the delicate moon. it felt different compared to the rest of the box, almost like it was sperated. i lightly pressed on it and it retracted into the surface. i herd a click and tried to pull it open once again it didn't work. looking all over the box i saw a small key hole had been relived at the front of  it, which meant grandma had the key.

i started for her bed room to look for it when i herd a light knock on the door followed by my grandmas voice.

"Kassie someone is here for you."

"coming grandma" i called back to her taking one last look at her bed room, i made my way down stairs, i would have to look for it tomorrow.

once i hit the bottom of the stairs i saw him standing in the door way looking as handsome as ever. he was wearing neat (clearly new) jeans that were held up with a belt (hint to all the guys who wear pants as shoes) he also had a dark blue sweater on and under that a black T.

"you ready to go?" he smiled up at me

"yea of course lets go" i gave him a similar smile

"have fun you to" my grandma said giving me a small hug before we left.

after we left i looked at him "so where are we going?"

"you'll see" he did one of his cocky half smiles but keep looking forward."by the way you look great" he smiled down at me

"so do you" i  said returning his smile, i could feel my cheeks heat up and look away quickly.

we didn't go anywhere spacial. he took me into the forest and we walked for a while in a peaceful silence. once in a while one of us would start small talk like how are day was or how nice it was out today, turns out we both didn't enjoy the sun as much as most people did.

we weren't on a path or anything in fact we were going pretty deep into the forest. it was the farthest  i had ever gone.it didn't take to long until  we came to a clearing it was just a small meadow only with a little pound in the center of it. there were small patches of flowers here and there. this little spot definitely brightened up my day.
