Chapter 1
Mary procrastinated on what she would wear on her first day on the job. Deciding between a pantsuit or a blazer and skirt seemed to be like the hardest decision she has made in a while. Finally, she chose to wear a red button up shirt that tucked into her high waisted skirt. Along with a pair of Louboutains, with the red bottoms. They were her good luck shoes too, and they complimented her outfit very well. She definitely needed some luck for this job. She then put on a bit of makeup but didn't over do it. It was her first day, not a fashion show. By then it was 7:15, work started at 8. She grabbed her bag and headed out the door.
It was a bright day in September. Miami didn't get as cold as other states. So she didn't need a coat. She walked out of the apartment complex into her Black shiny BMW.
Mary was a very independent woman. Everything she had and owned now was from hard work. A beautiful spacious apartment all for herself, an amazing car, and money she could spen whenever she wanted. She did it all by herself. When both her parents died she was really young and didn't understand very well. She grew up with her grandparents. Although, when her Grandad passed from cervical cancer, her grandmother was not as happy and joyful anymore like she used to be. The household was turning into a very gloomy environment. Connecticut was not a very lively place. Especially where she lived.
She needed to start fresh. In a new town. In a new state. She was even thinking about a new country, but didn't want to leave her grandma all alone. So she came here. To the sunshine state. Her masters degree in Business certainly did her good. So she fell back on that. She had a few jobs before this one, but wanted something more stable. A job that she can depend on and that had a pay that could help her with everything and money to spare. This was it.
Mary entered the big building doors of the tall structure that stood before her. It was a really big place. Must be a rising company as well. she thought. As she stepped in the building, the sense of wealth and money surrounded her. She walked towards the elevator and pressed the button. By now the time was 7:45. She loved being early so this was perfectly fine. It gave her a bit of time to put some of the stuff she had in the box she held in her hands for her office, check some files or e-mails that may have come in, and most importantly get Mr. Renard his morning coffee. She haden't seen Mr. Renard in person yet. Exexpt for pictures and magazines. The interview for this job was with his over-protective, grandchild hungry, sophisticated mother. Miranda Renard. During the interview she went on and on about how Joshua never had long term relationships, and how she wanted grandchildren one day. She also mentioned he was her only child, Which was a bit of a surprise. The other half of Joshua, Mr. Javensen divorced his mother and moved out. Continuing his life in Malibu with a stick boned french model, as so Ms. Renard had said. It seems that Mr. Renard had been living the life of the rich and famous, until his mother practically poured out his personal life. This scored her lots of brownie points for her first approach with him today. These thoughts were interrupted as she elevator opened before her. She steped in and pressed the 24th floor. As she arrived she walked down the hall to her new office. It was big and very spacious. If her office was like this, she could only imagine how big Mr. Renard's office was. There were shiny black tiles, and a big authorized looking desk. With two chairs in front of it, and one Chair behind it. About 3 shelves placed them selves neatly in the corner, and boy was she a clean freak. Her things always had to be spotless. That was on of the flaws. One.
She got behind her desk and went in the box she had brought for picture frames and other supplies and appliances she needed. She took her Mac book out of her bag and placed it on top of her desk. She was surprised that it had no dust what so ever. She was sure that someone was in here to clean just before she stepped in.
Just then she noticed a big window that gave her a view of the entire city. It was a beautiful skyline, and with the sun shining through it gave her office that feeling. Mary walked over to open the blinds, and checked her watch 7:50. She turned on her computer and went to go fetch Mr. Renard his coffee. Wouldn't want to keep him waiting on the first day.
She walked down the hall towards to break room and put on a pot of coffee. She heard the elevator door open from where she was and figured that it was him. And to her surprise it was. He walked passed the break room and even from where she was standing she could smell his strong and masculine cologne. Heaven. she thought. He didn't see her, and that was a good thing. She wanted to be prepared for her first impression of this sex god. It might be hard for her to be working with him and resist. But she didn't believe in datin employees or boss's in this case. She had to keep cool. The beeping of the coffee machine, woke her of her train of thought. She added the finishing touches to the coffee, took a deep breath, and proceeded to finally meet Mr. Renard.
