Agatha didn't comment, she didn't interrupt me while I said everything... from not being allowed out of the manor grounds when I was young, to that horrible night where I had felt truly alone... only Brigsby saved me... and even then, he wasn't strong enough.
"This woman sounds like a sorceress for sure. Devious bitches." Agatha said as she poured us both some tea. "Your best bet is to steal something precious to them... then, bring it to me and I can bind her.. banish her from using her powers. It might only be temporary, but that's all that will be needed for you to snap your protectors out of whatever spell she has them under." She said, giving an idea for how to resolve my current problem.
"But... won't they find me? they'll know, right?" I asked.
"Not if I make a stronger blessing... The moon blessing would be good but I'd need some special things for that. Your necklace would be a good start." She said, eyeing the necklace I wore, the one Master Namjoon had given me years ago. It was an amulet, with a very pretty amethyst hugged by a silver casing. I took it off and handed it over to her, Agatha smiled and took it, then turned and started to gather the things she needed. I watched, sitting in my seat and trying to learn from what she was doing.
She set an odd looking cup on the table and had a pretty glass jar with clear liquid in it, she dropped my necklace into the cup and then poured the liquid in.
"Don't look so strangely, child. It's just water, fresh spring water that I collected hours ago." She replied after seeing my expressions of confusion and curiosity. She put some sort of something in it and then took a glass stirring stick and began to stir the contents in the cup clockwise. She slid the cup to me and smiled.
"Stir it three times... full circles, clockwise. Then you're going to chant... say these words in this order. 'Oh light of the moon, wrap me, protect me, keep me from harm.' Now, you're going to say that three times, then lift the glass up.. and drink it till only your amulet remains. Take the amulet out and put it back on you. Do not remove it for anything. Also know... anyone who tries to take it off of you will be burned." Agatha explained. I nodded and did as she said.
"Oh light of the moon, protect me, keep me from harm. Oh light of the moon, protect me, keep me from harm. Oh light of the moon, protect me, keep me from harm." I chanted softly before holding the cup up, then drinking all of the liquid. Once done, I took out my necklace and put it back on myself.
"This will keep me safe?" I asked.
"Yes, it will. Nothing stronger than the blessings and protection from the moon." She smiled and motioned for me to follow her.
"Where are we going?" I asked once she led me outside.
"To get you up to speed on your abilities, little one." Agatha replied, grinning as we walked along a thin path in the woods. We came to a clearing, there were a few stumps from fallen trees and one tree that had clearly recently fallen over.
"While it's still light out... let's get you stronger, and by that... I'm technically putting you to work for me. You're going to clear this area out, cut the tall grass down, make me a garden, and build me a brewing area." Agatha said with a smile.
"H-how... am I supposed to do that?" I asked.
"By commanding the elements and the universe to bend to your will, of course." Agatha replied with a grin, like it was common sense and I should know this. Only, I didn't know this. I wasn't told anything... and that made me scared when I would accidentally use whatever power I have.
"I've never..." I started to say but trailed off as she stood behind me, put her hand on my back and made me stand up straight.
"I know... now's a good time to try though. Clear your mind, keep your posture straight, use your confidence... It's always a key to doing things successfully." She said as she stood back and let me focus. I closed my eyes, breathing in, slowly exhaling while I did my best to muster up the confidence to do this.
"Picture what you desire in your mind. Unlike a witch like me... you, child, do not need a spell. You only need to will it." She said. As her words sank in I took another deep breath and exhaled, thinking of what she told me she needed, starting with the field to be cleared a bit. I envisioned the tall grass shortening, I did my best to believe in it and trust that when I opened my eyes I'd see what I envisioned. However... I didn't. Nothing happened and I huffed.
"I don't think I can do this." I said... losing the confidence that I had tried to pull together.
"Relax. We'll take it slow." Agatha replied, trying to assure me I would get it. We worked on harnessing this power inside of me till it grew dark. Agatha allowed me to stay with her, ensuring I was safe within her home and with my necklace on. No one.. no creature, would track me.
For days we practiced harnessing this power of mine. By the fifth day, I had her garden and covered area done. She thanked me and we moved on to more things, like using my power to hunt for food. She showed me one of the many talents celestials like me have... making a weapon from our light, using that light.... I made a bow and arrow. I focused, missing everything I tried to aim for.. and only caught a rabbit because Agatha had a trap out in the woods that had been there for a month prior.
On the sixteenth day I managed to shoot my light arrow into a buck. Agatha had me thank the land and moon for blessing us with the beast, and thank the buck for providing us food.
I got another Buck two days later and Agatha was pleased to have meat stocked up for a little bit. Time started to slip away as I learned to focus more on what power I had. Agatha helped me learn control, and confidence.
"Do they mean something to you?" She asked.
"Yes. They're everything to me." I replied to her question of my desire to go back and save the Masters I've known my whole life, and Brigsby.
"Then we go... tomorrow night, you'll be ready." She smiled and patted my head as she scooped some stew into my bowl. I ate and went to bed with hopes that Brigsby wasn't hurt, and that my four protectors were not too far gone into that bitch's trap for me to get them out of it. I wanted to scold myself for using that word... but at this point, I was certainly no longer the young girl who never said bad things... those days of innocence were long gone.
I followed Agatha's lead, we spent the next day getting ready... and I wondered how to get back to the manor.
"How do you know which way to go?" I asked her as we trekked through tall grass and out into an open field. The two of us going back to confront the sorceress.
