~HAZEL~

Hazel's legs dangled over the porches edge, swinging back and forth every few moments. Her mind was a thick black abyss, she had no thoughts, no feelings, it was peaceful.

"Hazel?" A curious voice snapped Hazel out of her abyss, her eyes darting around suspiciously for whoever had spoken, her heart melting when her eyes fell upon the awkward Frank smiling nervously at her.

"Mm?" She replied, still caught in a daydream, laying onto the porch and closing her eyes, almost drifting off into a peaceful sleep.

"There's some guy here, he's asking for you?" Frank replied, Hazel's eyes fluttered open and her back shot up straight. "He's been shot." Frank added before quickly leading Hazel back into the house.

Although the boy looked older than she'd last seen him, he still looked the same as Hazel had seen him three years ago. It was Hazel's brother, there was no mistaking it.

He couldn't have been older than sixteen, his hair was a mangled ink black mess. He had pale skin and his current facial expression was unreadable, but Hazel could see a hint of pain and sorrow.

"Nico?" A lump was forming in her throat, she felt pinpricks of tears almost fall from her eyes but she managed to hold them back. She could smell the sickly scent of werewolf practically smothering his body, only creating more questions for Hazel to ask later on.

"I need help," Nico gestured to his wound, "if you can't tell."

Hazel stuttered, not able to comprehend what was happening. "W..what..."

"Hazel please."

Behind her, Hazel heard footsteps of other people walking into the room, by the tone of whispers they could clearly smell the werewolf on Nico's frail body. She turned around to see Reyna and Jason staring warily at the newcomer standing in the doorway, Hazel switched back to Nico and hesitantly let him inside, much to the other vampires disgust.

"Go get Frank." Hazel ordered to no one in particular, urging Nico to lay down on the now empty table, watching as Jason appeared with a box full of bandages and other first aid equipment, followed by Frank. "You know how to patch him up I suppose?"

Frank peered over Nico warily, nodded and got to work. Shooing the remainder participants in the room to leave him to his business.

"Who is that?" Annabeth questioned Hazel as soon as they'd left the room and were out of earshot to any other nosy vampires.

Hazel sighed, and pressed any bad thought on the situation to the back of her mind. "He's my...step-brother."

A thousand questions must of been flowing through her head but Annabeth only nodded and walked off to her room, leaving the questions for another day.

But Hazel had questions of her own, only for Nico instead. And unlike Annabeth, Hazel wasn't prepared to leave those questions for another time. Despite Franks protests, Hazel walked back into the lounge and sat down beside her brother.

Nico lay unconscious as Frank carefully prodded around to get the bullet out, the sight of so much blood made Hazel's stomach growl but she managed to contain her hunger. "How long do you think?"

Sighing, Frank finally managed to pull out the bullet and place it gently onto the table, his own stomach growling as he got to work on the stitches. "Not long. How did you know I was good at this anyway?"

The question took Hazel by surprise and for a few seconds she didn't know how to react, "I'd heard it from someone."

A tiny smirk made its way to Franks lips, it was only small, but it was there, and still managed to make Hazel blush. Whom thanked the gods that Frank was to busy stitching up Nico to notice.
