~NICO~

Frank isn't such a bad guy.

It was no secret he had a crush on Nico's half sister, Hazel. It only took two seconds to notice the way he blushed a deep crimson whenever her name was mentioned, or the way he spoke about her as if she were a Goddess and could do no wrong.

But. Setting aside, in Nico's opinion, petty and pathetic crushes, the two enjoyed an intense game of cards, the game continuing for five consecutive hours. Frank had won most games, Nico was putting hardly any effort into this, but he was trying. That was what counted right?

What was it people say all the time?

Its the thought that counts. Thats it. So then, that means even though Nico is not out there trying to find and rescue Percy, it was the thought that counts.

Nico wasn't sure that quote applied here.

Moving on to more important matters, as if a silly game of cards is a more important matter. Nico lay slumped against the couch, seeing that he had no strength to do much else, whilst Frank perched himself on a chair taken from the table, occasionally hopping up to get some food or water.

The fourteen year old yawned, though not from being tired, but instead from boredom. It was a struggle to stay interested in playing Last Card over fifty times, and although he would never admit it, Nico did find the game enjoyable the first couple rounds. But when you get to your thirty-first game everything begins to become one big blur, a six may appear as a five, or three a two. "How 'bout we call it a night...day...whatever." Nico yawned again.

It appeared that Frank had been thinking the same thing, as he was already asleep, almost lying on Nico's lap. Which was no surprise to the younger boy as he had been paying no attention whatsoever to his surroundings.

And so it had been decided, once woken up, Frank disappeared into his room for the day, while Nico still lay motionless on the couch. It was because of being stuck with vampires for the time being that Nico had become nocturnal. There was a dim light cast throughout the lounge as the curtains were not able to completely block out the sunlight that wanted to so desperately illuminate the house from the inside out. But with vampires inhabiting the place that was not on option.

In between almost dying and playing card games, Nico had zero time and effort to think of what was happening elsewhere, a part from when he compared that stupid quote to Percy, that is. But Nico hadn't but much thought into where Hazel and her group were now. Where Percy was, and if he was even alive.

That thought seemed to get stuck in Nico's head like a fly in a spiderweb. Thrashing and writhing in hopes to get out but only getting tangled into an even deeper mess.

What if Percy is dead?

The idea seemed unreal. Unrealistic. Not possible.

Without realising it, Nico had grown a small attachment to the boy with the messy black hair and sea green eyes. Those same eyes that Nico could just get lost in. And don't even mention the constant smell of sea salt whenever Nico was around him, despite being nowhere even remotely close to a beach.

But this wasn't a small crush similar to Frank's with Hazel. No. This was the feeling of butterflies in his stomach whenever Percy said his name. Wanting to be there to save him and help him. The constant need to be with him otherwise feeling like a complete lost boy.

And there was a reason for this. Nico remembered, the tattoo that was fixed upon his shoulder, identical to the one Percy currently had on his own shoulder.

Soulmates.

-------------

A pinch. Just a small one. On his shoulder. Awoke Nico from his nightmare, one filled with war and death, but he shook his off with a small shrug.

A second pinch, on his shoulder, finally got Nico using his senses.

The room was silent, Frank was clearly still asleep, as his snores could be heard from where Nico lay, still on the couch.

But there was something different about the room, something had changed from when Nico fell asleep. He guessed it was to do with the eerie blue glow.

In which it was. The glow was dim, but enough for Nico to know it was coming from the same tattoo he'd been thinking about when he drowsed off.

He lifted up his sleeve, inspecting the glowing tattoo, beginning to fade back to its original state, a pattern of black swirls. Confused, Nico racked his brain for any possible reason that this might be happening, but his mind drew a blank.

Pain was the first thing Nico felt after that.

Unbearable, aching and gut wrenching pain shot up his arm so quickly Nico didn't have time to react. He was unable to call out as the same pain had then crawled its way up to his neck and the edge of his mouth in a matter of seconds, making it almost impossible to shout out to Frank.

Merely ten seconds had passed but to Nico it felt like hours. As the pain wrapped itself around his body, paralysing him to the couch. It was getting to the point where Nico couldn't breathe.

Images, flickered in Nico's mind. Visions, playing in front of his eyes. Screams, could be heard from all directions.

His mind was melting, Nico could feel it. He'd seen these images in his dreams, though he hadn't paid much attention to those dreams. But no pain that was thrust upon him physically could compare to what he was seeing. To the amount of blood that Nico felt soak his clothes. To the death he felt around him. What he was seeing, it was going to happen, eventually. And Nico knew it.

He needed to tell them. Stop them. Before it was to late.

Hazel was already in the depths of the mountains, it would take days for Nico to reach her.

Thats why he needed to leave now. But  Nico wasn't an idiot, he knew Frank would never let him go out there like this.

Thats why Nico needed to leave now.
