Yi-Seo

I sit by listening to Se-Young’s whimpers and recollections from his past, and how badly Sammy had used him up to quench his own thirst of jealousy over Taehyung’s fame and status. It takes Se-Young a lot of strength to finally bring his emotions under control, and then he pops in a few pills before his breakfast is brought in by a helper.

Thanking her, he collects his tray of food and begins to eat slowly while I sit beside him, trying to process all the information that has been flooding me from all sides since last evening.

“Se-Young-ssi, can I ask you something?” I turn my head a little to look at him after a few minutes, and he does the same as he swallows the bit of food in his mouth, nodding his head a little.

“If there’s a chance, would you be bold enough to speak up and confess this truth in public? Or would you back out, fearing hatred and punishment?” I tilt my head as I put forward my questions.

Se-Young laughs softly, placing his tray on his nightstand.

“Yi-Seo, I’ve already been punished more than I would have even dreamed of, and I don’t fear any punishment now. I don’t think there’s a greater punishment than betrayal, and yeah, cancer to top it off,” he shrugs casually, wiping away the crumbs of food from the corners of his mouth.

“Taehyung, too, has been punished severely, don’t you think so? And that too for no fault of his. He has been betrayed, blacklisted, hated, and forgotten by the world—all for something he didn’t even do conscientiously. Is that not unfair?” My tone grows more serious, and I could feel the heat rising in my blood as I reason it out with the sinner.

“It is extremely unfair, and trust me, if my confession would get him any kind of justice now, I’d not hesitate to give it. Anywhere,” he makes his point confidently, and it causes an adrenaline rush within my body like never before, which obviously shows on my face as well.

“Then I think you should be prepared for it someday because I have a confession to make as well,” I speak confidently, turning around fully to sit facing him.

Nodding, Se-Young weakly coughs a few times. “I think I know what you want to confess about because I’ve been wanting to ask about it too,” he keeps his tired eyes dead set on me as he speaks. “But yeah, go on,” he motions for me to proceed with my confession.

“I’ve been in touch with someone who was gathering insider information and investigating the mystery behind Taehyung’s drug scandal, and I accidentally happened to find out from his research that your real name is Dr Han Woo-Seong, and that you were the one who treated Taehyung’s ankle sprain,” every word that I uttered should have actually caused his face to twist and morph in bewilderment, but in complete contrast to my expectations, he remains cool as a cucumber with unwavering facial expressions.
