Jason's head swam from the shockwave. Or was it an explosion? He still had no idea.
All that mattered was that those trespassers were gone. One was dead, the other would surely never come back, and Michael -
Michael!
He staggered up, then looked to see Michael frozen on the ground. His breath quickened as he raced toward him.
Jason grabbed Michael's hand and gently lifted him up with a hand to his back. He heard Michael's long sighs, then he felt a tight grip.
He's OK, Jason thought, caressing his shoulder, he's OK.Michael felt something touch him. Instinctively, he swung at whoever it was, hitting what felt like a boulder.
When he opened his eyes, he saw it was just Jason, seemingly unharmed. A wave of regret enveloped Michael anyway. He tried avoiding eye contact, but Jason's hand cupped his face, turning it towards him.
Michael lightly touched Jason's hand (it was still such a new thing to him), understanding what Jason was trying to convey. He sighed with relief.
As he went to get up, his head began to hammer, throb. He held his head as it swayed.
As Jason tried to lay him down, a memory flashed through Michael's mind. It was that girl. That blonde hair. Those eyes. He knew her, he had to.
Laurie?
