The town square was quieter then usual, maybe it was just me because, the year was coming to a end, and the new year when I started my apprenticeship would be starting, I honestly hoped to be the Wizards apprentice. I love magic, I would do any thing just to be able to learn how to do things like shoot fireballs out of thin air, where make storms appear at any time, or honestly my favorite would be, because I have seen it done, shoot lightning, I Wish I could do that, but I can't, not yet at least, but there is always a chance that someone else will choose me and leave me almost hopelessly disappo...
"Feredir, don't move." Rowan the short curly brown haired elf, tall slender body with medium sized muscles, he is also my best friend, I just wanted quite, why can't I get quite when I want it, but whenever I want to talk everybody is busy, I really should say something back now.
"Fine, I just wanted to get away from all the noise, even if the town square is quieter then usual" I then replied with a look of slight anger because it was almost quite, but nope it will not be quite, not until I get back to my house, that's only if everyone is out of the house.
"What are you doing, shouldn't you be getting ready to be a new apprentice?" he said still catching his breath from the run.
"No I don't exactly who would choose me to be their apprentice so I won't practice... I never got to know any of the masters so I don't know, and how far exactly did you just run, I have seen you run, by the time i would have run around Menwe you could have done it twice with little to no breaks." I said looking ' Rowans who has Gained a grin, "well have any preferred masters that you would want to be apprenticed by, and just five kilometers" he asks with his grin turning into a full smile, what's he so happy about?
"Just five km, that usually doesn't make you pant, and well the wizard would be nice, I mean I love magic but...."
"But you did not actively try to learn from him and, you didn't do anything to make him choose you, so you are just hoping that he chooses you."
I guess he's right. "yeah, sadly even I have to admit you are right." I said with a sigh, Looking left I hear a voice calling, "Feredir, Rowan wait up!" The voice was coming from a female elf another of my close friends, Sophia, erm Sophie as she liked to be called, she usually had her brown wavy hair loose but today she had her hair braided in one big braid going over her right shoulder, onto her small skinny body, her big brown eyes greatly complemented her hair plus what she was wearing, dark brown trouser, with a loose tan tunic.
"Hey sophie, you in a hurry or something?" I said sounding stupid, or was it just me?
"Just wanted to talk to you guys." She said awkwardly while panting slightly more then Rowan had been when he caught up.
"Talk about what, I mean it has to be somewhat important since you were running." Rowan then said bluntly.
"No I just wanted to talk... so who do you think will apprentice you guys?" She said with excitement in her voice, I then look at Rowan to get him to answer first.
"so the truth comes out you did want to talk about something, and to answer your question, Master Fylcon the what ever he does, I may not know the name but I have been with him enough that there is a great possibility!"
"And Me I don't know who will apprentice me since, like I just told Rowan before you ran up, I never actively tried to become one of the masters apprentice" I said with obvious despair in my voice then looking over at Sophia. Sophie returned with a look of fake sympathy...
"Don't worry I'm sure someone will chose you, but for me I'm pretty much on the same boat, I am just hoping to be apprenticed by either your brother, Rao because he is the blacksmith, or Roger the swords master either of them and I will be happy" she said in a musical tune, but I guess I would have to agree with her because I think all of our secondary would be the swords master, but it would be cool for her to be apprenticed by my brother,
My brother was a redheaded elf to but instead of strait flat hair he had thick and curly. Now looking up the street I saw my house, now not necessarily wanting silence, now that Sophia was here, "okay you know what Rowan this is for you, I need to go to the library, I need something to do until tomorrow. Detour song."
We always did this when we had to take a detour, immediately after I said this he looked away from the road and started singing, if you can call it that,that, it's not that he is tone deaf, but he sang it using words like, ba da pu and things like that, it never got really annoying for some reason. We turned around and started to walk around, laughing as we went down the street, every one in town probably sometimes thought we were insane, "what type of book are you looking for, feredir?" Sophie asked politely
"Something about magical weapons, or at least something on magic." I replied with a equally polite reply, as we walked back past town square, through a couple ally short cuts, and we arrived at the library, it was a medium sized house being used as it and made out of a dark oak, we went inside and we were met with a smile from the librarian, "Feredir you need a book now? Shouldn't you be getting ready to be a apprentice?" The librarian asked still has that smile on her face though.
"Yes Claire, for both, but I need something to pass the time for tomorrow, and while I am a apprentice, do you happen to have any thing on magical weapons?" I then asked in reply to her question.
"Feredir you need more hobbies, but I do its a long book, but it has some cool content, it is also checked out to the wizard."
"Oh, how long until its back?"
"I don't know, no one ever checks out the book so I just said finish it..."
"Okay I will be back again, I figure out how to entertain myself until it's back, I mean I don't want to have started a book when it returns." I stated while turning to the door, "in that case we will be off Claire, take care." We were now almost out the door, and we retraced our steps back to my house but halfway we lost Rowan, since he was hungry, and Sophie lived next to me so I get off about the same time
As we arrived I said,
"This is where i get off, I need to make some dinner before it time for the celebration" I said wearily "I will see you tommorow!"
"Bye Feredir." She said then giggled a little.
Ah finally peace and quiet I thought when I got into my house.
