It was the end of week one and me and Sophie had some free time so we went into the town center to find Rowan.
"Do you think Rowan, is getting good with bows and, rifles?" I said excitedly, and Bluntly. If he has we can go hunting.
"By guess with the bow he can hit the non moving targets, but guns we don't exactly use them for much more then hunting and most elves don't even do that." She said with that happiness that we saw before the apprenticeship started. "Its true we are one of the few cities that eat meat except for some." I then said with a small grin on my freckled face.
"Well, maybe he can hit a target if they stand strait in a row ba..." I turned to my right and saw Rowan walking, Wearing a new outfit, it was black trousers with a black vest over a dark green tunic
"Sophia, Feredir, come i need to ask you a question, don't say anything about the vest either, if you do I will personally rip your insides out." Rowan said
"Where are we going, and i was not ev...." started
"Feredir, FIGHT ME! And we are going to my dad's house, of all the people to choose me why did mine have to be vegan, I can handle vegetarian, but vegan that is going to kill me." He ranted, while we could not conceal our laughter any longer. I laughed a fake laugh as I always did could they tell that I was? And Sophia laughter was more musically sound.
"Stop I told you not to laugh, and yet?"
"You said not to laugh at you vest, no I somewhat like the vest, but the vegan thing I could not conceal." Sophie said musically, while her laugh is only a small giggle now. "Ok how good with bows, and guns are you?" I was looking at Sophie when I said that "with a bow good I can hit a still object from a hundred meters away, with guns I don't know he has not taught me that yet I actually. Think he does not own one." He explained, as we got to his dad's wooden house, then we ran and knocked. Why we didn't just go in was beyond me.
Creek the door opened "Rowan , what brings yo..."
"Meat, cow, chicken, lamb, fish, any, it's going to kill me eating plants every meal and that it." He said pushing into the house where he navigates to the kitchen, where they had stored a small portions on dried meat.
"Its has a pretty good flavor, meat, do you two want some, we have beef, lamb, and pork, each has two types spicy and not."
"Sure how about a spicy beef... what's in the last to jars?"
"Pork plain" sophia said after me
"Its dried fish, and im taking it back with me it's better then going vegan." Rowan stated while handing me, and Sophia our jerky, we chewed it as we walked outside, towards my brother Rao's black smith, we always went there but we haven't been able to recently, any way my birthday was coming up and I wanted to try to find my present. "Rao you here?" Around the shop you could see master made blades, some less then master made blades from Rao's apprentice, Xrion which has been his apprentice for just as long as us but, he has started to do small daggers and swords.
Rao, "yeah give me a second" you could hear him trip over and knock things down in the back before you could see him coming to the front.
"So how was your first week as a apprenticed swordsman, Feredir, Sophie, and yours with firearms Rowan?" He said showing his general interest other then washing the sweat from his forehead with a blue rag.
"Great may I tell you how much I love being a apprentice with Feredir because I am like twenty times more into it and I am also like five times his physical strangth." Sophie said in a gloating tone, all I could think was self restraint and, I might have make someone go missing.
"Yup and I am getting there." I then said like I was dying and those where my last words.
"And I now can say I can kill someone at a hundred meter if they are no moving." Rowan then stated proudly
"With a long crossbow and scope or a longbow, or rifle?" Rao asked
"Longbow,"
"Ah, and you will get there eventually Feredir, if not then I don't know, so what brings you three by the shop?" He then asked with genuine curiosity.
"Well two things one we always come here, the second thing is I need a sword."
"Ah you need a sword, but doesn't Roger have some?"
"Aye, but I think Feredir is trying to find something more personalized." This time it was sophie talking and not me.
"Well I would wait, sure I am your brother but I still need to maintain my shop myself, my apprentice, so I can't just simply give you one for free." He stated as if I were leaning in that direction even know I was.
"Well, how much do I need?" I asked staring blankly at a rack of axes.
"Five gold pence, I dropped it as far as I could, with making a profit."
"You can only drop it two pence!?"
"Feredir chill not every one gets that luxury." Xrion the long black haired elf stated after walking in. Then both Sophie and Rowan agreed by nodding slowly.
"I will be back after my birthday since I am sure to have enough then." I said slowly while turn to the door, with the other two following me.
"Okay, see you later." Rao said as we walked out the door
After that we went down to the lake and at a couple sandwiches that Rowan's mom had Given to us while at his house.
"Sometimes I wish I could leave every thing behind and just stay here, do you guys wish that too or is that just me?" Sophie said softly, and sweetly.
"I do but instead of here it's the middle of the forest." I said in reply
"For me it's the mountains, there is a view and if I fight someone I can win
easily."Rowan then said in reply
"If I had enough to sustain my life I would leave but I don't and I need something that can help me survive." I said standing up ready to leave
"Maybe that's why they put us in these apprenticeships because we can use them for survival, both self defense and hunting." Sophie said but was now standing up. "It also could mean bad news, they apprenticed more warriors then any time I think I mean Roger chose you two, and Fylcon still has two other apprentices, this may not be good." He said being the last to stand up.
"For what ever reason I am hoping it is a good reason."
