"You two about done with your run?" Roger said, while jogging at a the same pace as Sophie run, which is still faster then my run...
"Almost, I just need to finish this lap, and i assume that Feredir is just about done." Sophie told Roger still using a bragging tone.
"Whats up, I just finished" I said through panting when Sophie and Roger returned.
"Go grab the training swords from your rooms."
"Yes, sir."
"Run," he said looking at me, why did he have to do that, I mean he didn't have to say run right after I think we would have both ran because we saw what was coming. "okay first both of you verses me, with one hand behind my back."
"Thats not fair though." I complained
"Why, I am using my less dominate hand, and it's two verses one."
"No not for you but for us, we would have a chance if you had one leg, but..."
"You won't have a chance with that attitude." Roger then stated with a grin saying, this is going to be fast and fun, for him.
"Come on Feredir, it will fun" Sophia said with a wink.
So the battle started, but Roger didn't move but Sophie and I went to a charge from different sides, I Charged from the back not noting where Sophie was now having second thoughts, when I got closer I waited for Sophie to reveal herself and attack that way Roger would be so he would be occupied, but without looking he turned around swung, my block was to slow to do any thing, his wooden sword hit my chest, knocked both the air out of me and me down onto the court yards cold stone brick, while on the stone I looked up at Roger to see Sophie sneaking up behind, in one fluent motion Roger turned around and did the same thing that he did to me, but Sophie wasn't on the ground as long, as I started to get up then Roger said,
"This was good I can see, potential in both of you, even you Feredir."
"What do you mean I was on the ground most of the fight, and Sophie was on just a little bit shorter then I." I stated
"Aye, I mean I know that fighting the master can be helpful for the master to determine what to do with the apprentice, but we where on the ground faster then I could beat up Feredir." Sophie then stated still in a gloating tone, "HEY!"
"Based on what you did while the fight tells me how I need to teach you, okay now gets some water you are now going up against each other."
"Ugh," we moaned sync.
"okay across from each other, MOVE IT!"
"Yes Sir." Across from me was the brown haired elf, and this is my one chance to get revenge for the gloating she did.
"Fight!" Roger said, and as soon as he said it Sophie charged me, she swung to the side I blocked it as if it was a stick that we used to fight with, then she swung down, missing, then I swung towards her lower leg, but as I swung she had all ready recovered, and started to swing left, her blade hit my side, right before I would have hit her leg, I missed and fell from the surprise attack. As I started to get up she had her wooden blade pointed at my heart.
"We are done here." She said both plainly and happily.
"okay, first thing is yes you where right Sophie, I did beat you faster, but I found out things from observing." He said with a grin.
"Soo, what have you learned?" Sophie asked.
"Well Sophia your speed is great and your recovery is even better, but you need to know when to attack and when to not, Feredir you defensively most of the fight but then when you attacked you got beaten, I need more info for both of you to confirm it but, Sophia, Feredir, your fighting styles are the opposite of each other." He stated wiping the sweat from his face
"What do you mean by that?" Sophie said, I am now getting used to the gloating Tone. "Aye, what do you mean by that?" I followed,
"Feredir you play the defensive part in sword play, and Sophia you play the offensive, look back during the battle to see what you did to win and lose."
I know if I look back I will see my flaw, but I was in the battle I know my own flaws now. "It's getting dark master is there anything you need me to do before I go take a shower?" It's about a hour before sundown if that these summer days are longer so we work longer and get dirtier then in winter, I can't even imagine, unless we have a hidden room to sword fight in its going to be long.
"Run, a kilometer or two then you can go, and Sophie you can go." Wait what, I think he just put two and two together, or its that she's more fit.
"Yes sir" I said starting to run "thank you, sir." Sophie said walking towards the apprentice hut as we called it. I think he is right, when I didn't attack I would have been fine for at least the next couple blows, but since I did she had hit me.
Only a kilometer more, I wounded if Roger would let me and Sophie fight more in our free time, done, and in under fifteen minutes, okay time for my shower. once I got back to my room I quickly undressed and ran to the shower, and luckily since they had fixed the other shower and raised the wall in between by eight inches, so that we could shower without it being awkward, they were also planing on putting a door on so as we walk in we would not see each others parts. I quickly took my shower and then got in my nicer clothing, and Sophie did the same thing, then we went to Rogers house where we always ate.
"Roger, did you hear that there is another swords master in town?" Stephanie Rogers wife said.
"No, when did he get here?" Roger replied, Sophie and I sat silently.
"Well a couple of days after the day of becoming."
"Hmm, I do we know how long he is staying?"
"I was told he was until he finds a new apprentice."
"Hmm that's strange if that is the case it may be a while if he wants a official apprenticeship, but if he is looking for someone to grab'n go then he may be the in the wrong place." Roger seemed interested in this subject.
"I don't have much more then that, If you want more answers why don't you ask him yourself, he's staying in the inn, the old one by the barracks." Stephanie stated. "okay I will invite him over tomorrow, but by chance do you have his name?" Roger asked. "Rion." After that the remainder of dinner was quite, after dinner, I went to Roger and said "I have a question is it okay if Sophie and I dual some more in our free time?"
"Well you could have Been doing that all the time, did you think you couldn't practice without me?" Roger answered "well..." I left it on that and Roger with a face that was saying, really, did you have to ask that? So instead of thinking about what was said I just slept
