Episode 2//Out Of Time Part 2

"I can hear both of your stomachs rumbling from here. You guys will love this." Joyce brought over two plates of food.
"I've missed your cooking, Joyce." I said as I looked at the plate.
"I'm drooling like a baby." Max said while she rubbed her hands together.
"I still can't believe you're a woman. When I look at pictures of Chloe-" Joyce said but stopped when Chloe walked into the diner.
"Speak of the devil."

"Mom, Ethan and Max! Together again." Chloe said when she walked up to our booth.
"And Chloe, looking for a free meal. You've put your whole damn college fund on your tab." Joyce said.
"I'm treating both of them for breakfast." I said.
"Are you atoning for yesterday?" Joyce furrowed her brows at me.
"Oh god mom, please do not give him any shit for that. He apologized."
"I know he did. He's a man now."
"Too old to be getting lectured by you or Sgt. Pepper."
"Call him David if you don't want to be lectured. You only get one damn slice of bacon today." Joyce walked away angrily. Chloe looked angry as well, but shrugged it off.
"You guys are still the same." Max said with a little laugh.
"Another reason to blow this town." Chloe said.
"What is this shit on the jukebox?" Chloe walked to the jukebox and changed the song, walking back to the booth and sitting in front of us.

"Let's talk about your superpower..." Chloe said.
"I don't have any explanation... and I can't explain why I saw that fucking tornado..." Max said.
"Or why I was there with you.." I said.
"Come on, that's just a daydream. I want proof you can rewind time" Chloe sounded excited.
"This is all happening so fast.." Max said and I put my hand on her back.
"We'll start slow. Right here. Now." I know Chloe's exciting and to an extent I am too. But this seems like it's really stressing Max out.

"Hmm...We can tell you everything that's in your pockets." I said and leaned on the table.
"We? You have powers too?! I don't even know what's in my pockets." Chloe said.
"Not exactly. I can see when Max rewinds time, but I can't do it myself."
"Alright well let me see what's in my pockets." Chloe pulled out what's in her pockets.

We looked at everything and Max stuck her hand out. Everything went blurry.

"We'll start slow. Right here. Now." Chloe said what she said before.

We told her everything she had in her pockets without her needing to pull anything out.

She pulled the stuff from her pockets and when she saw we were right, put her hands up to her head in shock.

"Amazeballs. I literally just got chills all over my neck... You guys have powers." Chloe said, still in shock. I winked at Max as Joyce started walking to our booth with a plate of food for Chloe.

"Take that crap off the table, Chloe."
"Sure, mom."
"How's the food you guys?" Joyce asked us.
"Better than I remembered." We said at the same time.
Joyce smiled and walked away.

"Man, I'm hungry like a wolf." Chloe said.
"Clearly." I said and Max giggled.
"I am freaking out about what just happened. You have to show me more, something way cooler so I will believe you without any doubt.." Chloe said.

(for brevity's sake i'm skipping this part)

"I pledge allegiance to Max and Ethan and the power for which they stand.." Chloe grabbed a hand from both of us and bowed on the table.
"This isn't a toy, Chloe. I do have to be careful how I use it-" Max said but was cut off.
"Screw that! Of course it's a toy! The best toy ever! You can bang anyone with no strings attached, rewind time, and boom, it's like it never happened." Chloe said and that thought made me a little agitated.
"Grow up." I said in a serious tone.
"Maybe you made a move on me and I would never know." Chloe said and that agitated me even more.
"Yes. That's what I did." Max said in a sarcastic tone.
"Chloe-" I tried to interject but she talked right over me.
"You can rewind time, Max. That's fucking insane. We have to play!" Chloe sounded super excited.
"I don't have time." Max said.
"You did not just say that." Chloe said with a chuckle.

Max's nose started bleeding and I noticed.

"Shit, you okay?" I grabbed her chin softly so she would face me as I wiped the blood off of her cheek with a napkin.
"Too much blow?" Chloe said.
"Too much excitement. See what happens when we're all together again?" Max sighed.
"Then... we'll take you to one of our secret lairs and fully test your power."

"You don't mean..?" I asked.
"The junkyard." Chloe said.

The last time I was there was when I got stabbed in front of Rachel and Chloe. I haven't gone back since. I've tried to move on from that but it seems like I keep getting pulled back.

"Okay, Girl Wonder." Max said and we got up.

Max's phone started ringing as we walked to the door.

"Don't even answer. We have places to go and people to do... Come on, before mom starts some shit. Let's bail!" Chloe jumped up in and down.
"It's Kate Marsh from Blackwell." Max said.

The girl from the kissing video?

"Big whoop. You don't call once in five years and now you're all over some beeatch you see every day at school? I see how you roll. So go ahead, chat up Kate Marsh from Blackwell. I've got other people to hang with too." Chloe's attitude immediately changed and she was annoyed.

"It's just a phone call, Chloe." I said.
"You should be more upset that Max didn't call you too." Chloe said to me.
"She's here now so what does it really matter?" I said and Max answered the phone.

Chloe started arguing with her mom and Max walked away while talking to Kate. I felt awkward just standing there. After a couple seconds Max walked back and Joyce walked away.

"If you'd rather chill with Kate, please go ahead." Chloe said.
"You are ridiculous. I'm chillin with you two, okay?" Max looked sad.
"For now. Let's rock." Chloe said as we walked out of the diner.

We walked to my car.

"Hey, is Kate okay?" I asked.
"Yeah, just going through some shit." Max sighed as we got in the car. Max in between me and Chloe.
"She's the girl from the video right? I feel so bad for her." I pulled out of the parking spot.
"Yeah. She's not actually like that though. She's sweet and nice."
"I bet it has something to do with Victoria Chase." I said.
"Or Nathan Prescott. I'll tell you later." Max said. I got on the road and drove towards the junkyard, memories of Rachel Amber flooding me.

--Flashback--

"Fine then, Drama Queen, where are we going?"

"You tell me! What uniquely twisted location does Ethan Pierson plus Rachel Amber equal?"

"Huh... Los Angeles. You could show me around."

"Perfect! Sixty degrees every night. You and me on the Santa Monica pier, gorging on food truck food, smoking up, looking at the moon shining on the waves. And a beautiful blonde girl will sit next to us and smile at you."

"Riiight, okay."

"She'll say, 'I like your muscles,' and I'll say 'Back off, he's with me.'" I smiled at her impersonation of an LA girl.

--Flashback--

"Damn, Ethan Pierson. What would I do without you?" She smiled at me.

"Have really relaxed muscles, I guess." I smiled back.

--Present Day--

I'm sorry Rachel. I have to move on. Once I find out where you are, I have to move on.
