The Apocalypse!

Chapter 3

"Thanks for waking me up!" Maya yelled kicking Riley in the side.

"Ow!" Riley screamed, "You kick hard!"

"Sorry, but you need to get up. We're moving," Maya said walking away.

Riley got up and started running after Maya.

They'd been walking for and hour and half when a knife whizzed passed Maya's ear.

"What the..." Maya whispered turning around with a confused look on her face.

"I don't know," Riley stammered back, turning in a complete circle.

Just then someone started firing bullets at the two girls.

"What did we do that has got them so annoyed?" Maya yelled to Riley.

"I don't know!" Riley yelled back.

"STOP!" the girls yelled as loud as they could, hoping they would be heard.

The firing ceased. Melody and Riley turned round, bows ready.

"What do you want?" A male voice called out to them.

"I think the correct question is what do you want?" Riley answered back.

"We're coming out!" A new voice called.

Their conversation was followed by a group of 'No, we can't trust them' and 'There could be more' before a louder voice told them to shut up. An assortment of scuffling and scurrying came and then five boys stepped out of the buildings.

"Sorry about that. It's just that we've been attacked four times already. I'm Josh, by the way," Josh said smiling then, pointing at the other boys, "That's Connor, Dan, Lewis and Jack."

Josh had light brown hair and brown eyes. He wore ripped jeans, a white T-Shirt with London 2012 written on it, a black hoodie and trainers one step away from falling apart. Lewis had dark brown hair and black eyes. He wore a white T-Shirt that was covered in mud, jeans, a black hoodie tied round his waist and black trainers. Dan had green eyes and black hair that was slightly spiked up. He was dressed in black skinny jeans, a green top, a leather jacket and combat boots. Jack had blue eyes and light, short brown hair and was wearing jeans, a plain black T-Shirt, a sweatshirt tied around his waist and white trainers. Then there was Connor, standing at the back with his gun still drawn. He hand blondy-brown hair and green eyes. He had on jeans, a black Star Wars top with a dark grey long sleeved top on underneath, a jumper tied round his waist and black trainers. Then Riley realised the gun was pointed at her.

"I'm Maya and this is my friend Riley. Riley?" Maya asked.

BANG! Even though it all happened in an instant Riley could swear that next moment slowed down. She could see Connor's hand trembling as he pulled the trigger. She could see the fear in everyone's eyes as she stood frozen, to terrified to move. She could see the bullet streamlining straight to her arm as she tried to dodge out of the way. But worst of all, in that next horrifying moment, she couldn't see anything as she collapsed onto her friend, clutching her arm as it bled out of control. It all went so quickly after that. One minute she was falling onto her friend as the blood rushed from her body like a violent river of red and the next there was blurred visions of people rushing towards her, trying to reassure her it will be ok.

"Connor! Why did you do that?" Lewis yelled pulling his gun away as Jack and Josh rushed over to help Maya.

"I... I... I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to!" Connor stammered.

"It's fine. There's a hospital just a few miles from here we could probably get there," Maya said attempting to pick Riley up.

"Here. Let me take here. I am the one who caused this," Connor whispered coming closer.

"NO!" Maya, Jack and Josh yelled.

"I'll take her," Josh said picking Riley up.

The teenagers rushed to the hospital, weaving in between the buildings scattered in their path. Soon the hospital was in site though and they sped up the pace. Josh rushed ahead, determined to get Riley into the hospital before she lost too much blood.

"Josh! Josh wait!" Maya yelled, trying to catch up to him.

"Maya!" A voice yelled from behind them.

"Tess!" Maya yelled back, "Who else is with you?"

"Everyone! Who are you with?" Tess asked.

"A few people we met. That doesn't matter now Riley's been shot!" Maya said turning around.

"WHAT!" All her friends shouted, coming out of the shadows.

Kayla and Emma rushed towards Josh and helped him take Riley inside.

"Ahhhhhh!" Emma screamed.

The teenagers waiting outside rushed into the hospital to find Emma jumping up and down and Josh and Kayla supporting Riley. Suddenly, a loud crash came from behind and a man in his late twenties came out.

"What? What are you doing here?" the man asked.

"Isn't it obvious?" Kayla yelled at the man.

"Oh my... Quick this way. I'm Doctor Who," Doctor Who took one look at Riley and lead the teenagers into a medical room.

Josh and Kayla placed the now unconscious Riley onto the medical bed whilst the Doctor got bandages and needles from a cupboard. He then set to work on stitching the wound and then wrapping it up in bandages.

"So why'd you scream Emma?" Melody asked whilst the Doctor continued wrapping up Riley's arm.

"Oh. I saw a spider," Emma said as if it was no big deal.

Finally the Doctor finished with Riley and stepped back, letting her friends surround her and check that she was ok. However, no sooner had he stepped back two arms wrapped around his neck and he was pulled out of the window he was standing in front of.

The next thing the teenagers knew, the glass had shattered and The Infected were climbing through the window.

"Everybody hide!" Maya screamed reaching to grab Riley.

"No let me take her this time. It will be fine I'm hardly going to shoot her again am I. Anyway I have the best aim out of everybody her so I should be able to keep her safe!" Connor yelled picking up Riley and hiding behind one of the beds.

Everybody hid just in time because a few moments later a loud crash was heard and The infected walked into the room. Arrows, bullets and knives went flying through the air and many of The Infected fell down.

Suddenly, a scream filled the room and everybody turned to find Lewis getting attacked by one of The Infected. Kayla got up and grabbed a pipe and the walking towards Lewis.

As she swung the pipe the thing attacking Lewis moved out the way and Kayla hit Lewis, knocking him unconscious. Connor then aimed the gun and shot the thing in the head, killing it instantly.

Kayla dragged Lewis towards one of the medical beds just as Riley stated to wake up.

"What the hell just happened?" Riley asked looking at all the bodies lying on the floor.

"Oh thank god. I though I had killed you," Connor said sighing in relief.
