"Close your eyes briefly. Think of one object that's in the room and focus on it. Without opening your eyes, recall as much detail as you can about it. After 3 minutes or so, open your eyes and write about that object without looking at it."

A can of "Brick Red" wall paint I used last semester for art class. An appropriate name; it was indeed the colour of bricks. It was from Rona, the label was the blue of new jeans. Another smaller label was stuck to the top of the can, white, with the name of the paint and store details. It was about half the size of a normal can of paint, easy to lift with one hand. It was a little taller than a hand's length, and dribbles of the red paint made their way down the side in various places. The paint itself was thinner than acrylic, more like tempura. It took a tedious amount of time to dry and cure. The paint went on thin but smooth, and I remember that for a big project I had to layer it at least three times to get a solid red!

"Brick Red" had twenty mates, all different but beautiful colours. After using them in class, we set them all together in cardboard box under the sink counter. They would hide there until the next day when we could bring the box out, pry the cans open and experiment with them and artistic techniques.

I wish I had a "Brick Red" of my own <3
