Infinite in Infinite Directions

Let's talk, about the.... intriguing, concept of......

infiniiiiitteeeeeeeeeeeeeee

The universe is infinite. Maybe not in mass or circumference, but in potential, it is infinite. There are no walls. That we have discovered. Yet.

But presumably you can just keep going. Maybe you'd get to the end of this one and just flop into another one. I've wondered for a while about where you might find yourself if you were, instead of growing constantly as the universe seems to, actually shrinking constantly. What if you just kept getting smaller?

You'd go past children and dogs, ants, fleas, dust, bacteria, atoms, neutrons, quarks.... but beyond that we can't say, because of what our eyes are capable of perceiving and what our technology is capable of magnifying. A perfect hiding place you might say...

Though we may never be able to see infinitely further into the fabric of reality, that doesn't mean there's not something there. What would you find if you were granted omniscience, or just cursed to shrink for eternity?

Maybe if you kept going, you'd find your self approaching something in the distance as you shrank, and as you drew closer in size to this unknown element you'd realized it was in fact the universe, from the outside?

A straight line is finite, and if you made it infinite, would it not become a circle?

Maybe this universe is contained with every atom contained within this universe.

Well, we can't possibly know, but I'm happy with that answer for now.

Ok, Here's a cool thing I came to understand recently.

I look up at the night sky and stare on occasion, noting all the pretty little stars. I also notice that the longer I look, the more seem to appear. There's nothing blocking them, no clouds or stealth bombers...

But of course! If the universe is indeed infinite, then wherever you're looking in the night sky, you're inevitably looking at a star. So just look long enough and you'll see it! You may even be looking at another planet. A planet that may have life upon it. Life that may be looking into the night sky for stars. Maybe looking at you. You might even be making eye contact.
