Colin and I arrived at the mall and I groaned.
"I forgot how busy this place gets." I said
"It's Christmas time Ivy, what do you expect." Colin said and I sighed as we walked in the mall. We were silent for a minute. "When are you going to bring up what was said?" Colin finally asked.
"I didn't want to." I said.
"You said we could talk about it Ivy, which is why we are here." Colin said and I walked into a store to shop for Sage.
"Colin...I was tired, I had traveled all day, it was stupid." I said and he shook his head.
"Highly doubt that." Colin said. "Ivy please just tell me the truth. I've known you since the day you were born." Colin said.
I just stood looking at some things for Sage and then sighed.
"I guess I was just thinking that since we were both single, our parents want us to get together either with each other or with someone else it would just make sense." I said.
"Don't you think it would be weird if we aren't together at all and then just show up in 5 years and say we are getting married?" Colin asked.
"You really think they would question our decision?" I asked.
"Would you really want to marry me? You know nothing about me." Colin said.
"Damnit Colin stop answering my question with a question." I said annoyed. "Listen, like I said it was stupid and we don't need to do it." I said and he sighed.
"Ivy..." Colin said and I shook my head and grabbed something off the shelf I was looking at for Sage taking it to the cash register. Once I paid, we left the store. Colin walked up to me and took my hand linking my arm in his and I sighed.
"If you want to do a marriage pact we can." Colin said and I chuckled.
"Colin, it's fine. I just...I don't know." I said and he sighed.
"You think you can do any better than me for a husband?" Colin asked and we both laughed. I looked up at him.
"Do you really want me to answer that?" I asked and he acted wounded.
"You hurt my feelings." Colin said and I smiled at him.
"You know I love you and will always care about you. I just want you happy eventually Colin." I said and he shrugged.
"I just don't think marriage is for me. I got the band, I got my family, my extended family with yours...I don't know what else I would need." Colin said.
"Don't you want kids?" I asked and he shook his head.
"I know I said I did at one point in time but I have thought about things since then and a wife, kids, white picket fence with end everything else I have going on." Colin said.
"Right because stability is so uncool." I said and he looked at me with a smirk.
"I'm not saying that Ivy, just saying I like my life the way it is. I don't want to conform to what society says." Colin said.
"Well, if that works for you Shea, then you have at it." I said.
"So, you don't agree..." Colin said as we walked into another store.
"I don't care what you do with your life Colin. I just know I want all of that. The family, the kids, the house, stability...all of it." I said.
"Therefore, we wouldn't work out." Colin said.
"Who says if you were to find someone, they would made you leave the band?" I asked.
"That's how life goes. Say hypothetically you and I were to get together and married. You would let me continue to play with the band?" Colin asked and I shrugged.
"Why not? I mean it's something you enjoy and your job essentially." I said.
"And what about once we had kids? You would still let me?" Colin asked and I nodded.
"Again yes." I said. Colin just watched me in shock and then huffed a laugh. "What?" I asked.
"You are that desperate to find someone and having your fantasy life that you will conform to whatever they are for you to work." Colin said and I stopped looking around and looked at Colin. What he said hurt. I just walked out of the store we were in and kept walking quickly away from Colin. I knew we brought his car, and I knew I wasn't done shopping, but I just wanted to go so as I walk, I called for an rideshare. Once I get outside, I see the car waiting for me.
"IVY!" I hear Colin yell as I get in the car, and it drives away.
