Ch.6 : "Nel"

Yuri POV

Uryu and Chad had just defeated those two arrancars. Although they struggled at first, they defeated them easily.

Then we moved outside to encounter a green haired little girl that I knew even better than anyone.

"Nel?" I whispered to myself. My eyes immediately geared up. Noticing this, I turned away fro meveryone so that they wouldn't see. I hadn't seen her in such a long time...................

-FlashBack-
"Yuri! Where ya going!?" Nel shouted at me. We were in the 9th grade and me and Nel were best friends. Her green hair flowed in the wind perfectly. Her pale skin made her an attraction to guys who all wondered why she hung out with me. It was a Saturday.

"Home, I have to check in with my sister." I replied.

"Oh.......... Wanna hang out after?" She asked me.

"Sure. Can you come over to my house?" I asked her.

"Ummmm......yeah if it's alright with you sister." I thought about that for a second. Tia wouldn't be mad if Nel came over, right? After all, she did know that I had a crush on Nel....... Speaking of which rumors were going around that Nel liked me. When I asked her about it, she blushed madly and denied it furiously.

I went home after telling her to come to my house at six-thirty. Nel was going to go home and drop her stuff off. She was also going to let her parents know that she wasn't kidnapped or anything. Little did I know that that would be the last I'd ever have to talk to her.......

That night, Nel was late, way late. For a Saturday, Nel was usually here earlier than the agreed time. It was 6:45. When I called her family, they said she left at six. It was only a 10 minute walk from her house to mines.

'Nel, where are you?' I thought to myself.

Then, a knock came from the door. I rushed to it hoping it was Nel. It was a girl, but not Nel.

"I got your chips Yuri." My sister said. Her messy blonde hair and dark skin made it so that we didn't look related. It made sense since our mother had cheated on her father. My father was still unknown.

"By any chance, did you see Nel out there?" I asked her. When she responded by shaking her head, I grabbed my jacket and ran outside to look for her. It was getting dark. Quick. I needed to find Nel. Soon, I found a crowd. When I went to the crowd, I saw a girl being loaded into an ambulance. She had green hair and pale skin. The pale skin was covered in blood. Also, a car was a ways back, covered in police tape.

I followed the ambulance to the hospital and found out that she had been hit while going to my house. They called her family. Since I wasn't family, I wasn't allowed to go see her. Her mother came out of the surgery room and looked me dead in the eye. She then said the worst words possible at that moment.

"Just before she died, she told me to tell you something: She she wanted you to know that she loves you." Was all she said before tears came. I helped her back into the room and left. My best friend had just died.

That night, I ran to my secret spot. It was a green hill covered in trees and secluded from civilization. That last line would always make me laugh because it was in the middle of Karakura park. I could see the sunset whenever I sat here and it made me feel whole. Now, as I sat there alone, I felt completely shattered. What usually made me feel whole made me feel like pieces of myself.

Why did it do that? This was me and Nel's spot.......
