Chapter Eleven

~Jayden~

The four of us walked in silence for a short while longer, carefully listening and taking in our surroundings.  We knew Kaeteh was around here somewhere, and they aren't that friendly.  I was still trying to piece together some of the things that I knew, but there were holes in my thoughts.  Why did Kaeteh want to kill E-Humans anyway?  What's wrong with them?  I don't know about them, but I'd be pretty happy if I found out I had a special power.

Suddenly I felt a strange feeling slivering through my body as I fell numb, crashing into the ground.  I heard soft thuds as the other three fell over as well.  My vision disappeared, and my mind was cast into darkness.

I woke up who knows when.  The room was dark, the walls wooden.  I could see the feet of someone near the far wall.  My vision was a little blury as I tried to focus.  I twitched my foot and found it as free as ever.  My arms weren't bound to anything either.  I was just laying on my side on a wooden floor.  Strange, I was sure that whoever had captured us would have wanted to restrain us.

I found the strength to sit up.  Looking up at the person I saw that it was a teenage girl looking out the window.  Her back was to me, so I could only see her shoulder length light brown hair and dark shirt as well as a skirt that was white and black.  The white part of the skirt nearly reached her fingertips and the black part went down to her ankles.

I felt a poke and turned to see Evey right behind me.  She was looking at me with nervous eyes.  Beside her was Aqua, still laying on the ground and behind Aqua was Shane, just waking up.

The girl turned around and noticed our awaken.  Now that I could see the front of her, I realized that the black part of her skirt was split in the center, each half waving outward towards the bottom, revealing black leggings that reached her knees and thin legs.  Her shirt was also a tank top.  "You're awake."

"I know that," I responded.

"Please forgive me though.  I have assumed you are not one of the people who stormed through our neighboring villages.  Am I correct?"

"Yeah, but how did you know?"

"The blonde haired girl.  I saw her mark and knew that she must be an E-Human.  I didn't see any reason for an E-Human to be travelling with the people who hate E-Humans, and she didn't look restrained."

"My name is Evelynn," Evey told her, sitting up straight and fixing her hair.  Shane sat up too, nudging Aqua who had just opened her eyes.

"It's a pleasure to meet you.  I'm sorry for using the knock out on you, but I was under the impression that you were the enemy."

"The knock out?" I asked.

The girl picked up a gun from a small wooden table next to her.  It was small and silver, with a green circle at the point and a purple trigger.  "This will send a wave towards anyone I aim at.  That wave will cause you to fall asleep.  I was up in a tree when I saw you.  My name is Annalee by the way."

"Nice to make an acquaintance.  Where are we?" Shane spoke up.  Aqua had just picked herself off the ground and was standing.

"You're in a small village near the main city of Willow."

"How are the others going to find us?"  Aqua asked us.

"Others?" Annalee wondered aloud.

"We have five other companions," Aqua informed her.  "But three of them went back to the shore to get the other two."

"I don't know.  Let's just hope for the best and that they find this place and us," I hoped.

It was quiet for a moment, but Annalee broke that silence with a question.  "How many of you are E-Humans?  Don't worry, none of us here care if you are one or not.  In fact, here on Willow it's an awesome thing to be one.  No one hides that secret since there wasn't anyone who hated it."
