Harlynn's POV
My eyes were glued to my phone. I probably looked like such a clingy fool waiting for Mason to text me. As usual.

And of course, I wasn't looking where I was going. I bumped right into something hard, losing my grip on Bolt's leash. Thankfully, he didn't take off running like he normally does.

I dropped my phone, a curse flying out of my mouth as I apologized to the stranger and reached down to pick up my smart device.

"No, I'm sor- Harlynn?"

Wait. I know that voice.

Returning to my full height, I looked up at the man the familiar voice belonged to.

Vance Tyler.

I haven't seen in him God knows how long. I faintly remember him in high school. He was a super smart kid with braces and glasses. Basically your average nerd.

Damn.

He looks so much different now. He's the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome. In a literal sense. Smooth mocha skin, short black hair, warm brown eyes, and a killer smile. No bifocals or braces in sight.

He reminds me so much of Morris Chestnut in the nineties. My mom loves him.

"Wow," I muttered. "Long time no see."

His smiled widened, dimples denting each cheek. I felt the blush creep onto my face.

He and I weren't really close growing up, but we made sure to speak to one another whenever we saw each other in the hallway.

"You are still as breaktaking as I remember." His eyes began to wander, before settling back on my face.

"Thank you. But look at you. You are fucking gorgeous." I began to ramble. "I mean you weren't bad looking before, but now-"

"Oh, don't be modest," he cut in with a wholehearted laugh. "I was ugly as hell in high-school." I chuckled at that. "So, how is everything? I see you got a dog."

Bolt nudged up against him, practically demanding him to give him attention. He happily obliged, Bolt pleased as Vance scratched behind his ears.

"Yeah, I did. I love the little troublemaker."

We began to talk on and on, catching up on the sidewalk as if we'd never parted ways to start our own lives. He told me all about how he just moved back from Boston a few weeks ago. And that he's planning to attend Vet school here in Cali.

I was surprised and also amazed to hear that he was also an escort, the occupation a way to fund his schooling.

"Do you have any pets?"

"I do," he replied with a smile. "I have two male orange tabby cats named Copper and Cheeto."

"Awww, that is so cute."

We continued to talk so more, conversation flowing easy between the two us. We were enjoying our time catching up so much that by the end, we'd exchanged numbers and agreed to catch up some more over a cup of coffee.

"It's so great seeing you again, Harlynn. Call me soon for that coffee date."

Date? I never-

He was gone before I could clear up the confusion. It's not that I didn't think Vance was handsome. Because he most certainly was. I even considered sleeping with him- my horny ass.

But I don't want him to get the wrong idea. I'm not looking for a relationship. So I'll have to make sure to relay that message to him when I decide whether or not I want to go through with this "coffee date".
