Chapter 10

I blink back the tears already springing to my eyes. "The story was disturbing to say the least when it hit the news, and that was before the stories about you started to spread. Now please, tell me what happened" she asks, well, orders. She sits on one of the sofas and I sit opposite her. Andrew continues with his paperwork, but seems to be listening.

"It was a normal day, nothing out of the ordinary. We were playing... in the garden" I stumble, blinking back tears. Rebecca's eyes don't waver from me. "Growling started from the trees, getting louder. I forced... Mason... into the house, telling him to hide. I locked him inside, I thought I could take on the threat. At first there was a brown wolf, then a blonde, a red, eventually too many to take on. I asked them what they wanted, but there was no answer. They didn't shift. I begged for them to tell me something, but they wouldn't, then they attacked. I managed to fight off three of them before they got me away from the door. Then I heard the glass smash. I was so angry, so filled with rage! I killed as many as I could, there was so much blood. I remember everything going dark, only catching glimpses as I tried to get to Mason. I heard his cry, I couldn't do anything" I cry, glaring at the floor, hating the memories, the pain, that wolf.

"Who killed him?" Rebecca asks, all of my scars burn, a reminder of how many times that question had been asked.

"I don't know. I blacked out, I don't remember anything after hearing his screams. Jackson, he blames me, thinks I killed him" I state, trying to keep my shaking hands still. We sit there in silence for a while, I can't help but hunch over a little, fighting back the pain of it all. Was it me? I couldn't have done it, I'd kill myself before hurting my baby. My little boy.

"Surly you must remember something...?" Rebecca pleads, running her hand through her hand lightly. "Have you ever tried any hypnosis therapy's? To try and remember anything?" she asks, looking tired.

"I can't, I have to run, this is the longest I've been in human form in years" I state, clinging my arms to myself.

"Would you like to try it? Olivia has been working with different doctors and has been training with these therapy's" she offers, waiting patiently for my answer. To know the truth, to finally have an answer, it would be... terrifying, but amazing. Would I be able to cope with the answer? What if it was me?

"I'll try" I mumble, barely able to speak above a whisper. Rebecca stands, leaving. I stay still, unable to move. Andrew doesn't say anything, just continues with his paperwork. The shuffling of papers filling the room. It doesn't take long for Rebecca to return, the girl who patched me out before following closely. Livvy I think it was that Cole called her.

"Ria, this is Olivia, I think she tended to your neck wounds" Rebecca mumbles, glancing between us.

"Yes, how are they doing? I can't see any trace of them" Olivia states, glancing at my neck.

"There's no pain, thank you"

"It's fine, Rebecca tells me you're trying to remember your past, I'm not fully qualified in hypnotic therapy yet, but I've studied everything there is to know about it, if you want to give it a try" she asks, watching me. I nod, my hands shaking again. "Right, please lay down, and try to relax, it won't work as well if you're tense" she orders, pulling a chair up next to the sofa. I close my eyes, taking a deep breath. "Try to think about that day, what you were doing, the smells, sounds..." she trails off, I think for a moment, remembering the forest pine smell, birds singing, a giggle...

I glance around, looking up at the bright sky, the green grass. "Mummy! Can we get ice cream later?" Mason asks, looking up at me with his bright, happy eyes. Pain hits me as my heart breaks . "If you behave yourself" my voice tells him, but I don't speak, the lump in my throat blocking me from saying anything. We play for a while, running around the garden, laughing and giggling as I chase him and we tumble to the ground, but I can't enjoy it, I know they're coming, I need to protect him! The growling startles me, pulling my attention to the forest. I hug Mason to my chest, remembering how small and vulnerable he is. I growl angrily, yet I don't make a sound. I back up to the house and place Mason inside. I urge myself to go with him, to not leave him alone, but I know it's no use. "Go and hide, don't come out until I come and get you" my voice orders, he nods his small head and runs, his little legs not carrying him fast enough. I face off against the wolves coming out of the forest. A brown one appears first, then a blonde, a red, too many. I can't fight all of them. I growl again, but nothing. "What do you want?" my voice asks, just run! Get inside! I scream to myself, tears pouring down my cheeks. "Shift and speak with me! You're trespassing!" my voice shouts, the wolves release this kind of, cackle, as if they're laughing at me. I jump for them, but I don't move. The blonde leaps at me. I'm thrown to the floor. I roll and push it off, kicking it away from me. The red one hits into my back, I kick it in the chest and grab it's scruff, slamming the wolf into the wall. Three more surround me, taking their turns attacking, knocking into me. I burst into my wolf, ripping into the blonde one. Blood spurts across the garden, turning the grass red. I manage to kill two of them before the smashing draws my attention. I look the the smashed door, then I'm running. We get inside, fighting off a wolf as we run. I WILL KILL EVERY ONE OF THEM! My vision grows blurry, the wolf starts to take over. HOW DARE THEY! The room grows dark, disappearing from view. I feel myself racing up the stairs, howling for Mason. His cry fills my ears, darkness surrounds me.
