Maybe it's because of the fact that I listen to whatever he tells me! And I never liked talking anyway. He even programmed one of his robots (Minirod) to keep me company. I became more and more curious about Rod though. He had so many...Secrets. I want to make ice cream with him, and sometimes I wish that I could stand with him and look at the creamy remains without flinching. In that orphanage, in that dirty district I lived in, people just prod and prick at me, not giving a...No, I was told that swearing is bad, right? Anyway, they just can't understand how I want to be quiet.

"Miss Reane, Master Rod has called." My Minirod came to me. I followed the robot, and walked into the room where Rod fixes his van. But he was not fixing it today.

"Tell me, Reane. Do you like this place?" His calm voice send a chill down my spine for no reason. And I realized, he said my name. I'm not just "a little girl" anymore. I don't know how he felt right now, as his mask covered his entire head. "Yes." I simply replied. But then he asked this strange question:

"Do you want to know more about my factory?"

This question...well, it was quite a surprise. But I nodded, and he nodded too. He sometimes fascinates me. He took me in and actually decided to put in the effort to keep me here, and...I'm thankful for this.

"If you truly like this place...you should stay." He suggested, then slid under his van, tinkering with things underneath. I looked at him with raw honesty in my eyes.  I just don't want to say it because I don't want him to send me back.

"Well, fate is surely a strange thing, right?" Rod carried on nonchalantly. What does he mean? I blinked hard. Then did it again. Then I felt this weird feeling on my neck. Everything seemed to slow down. And I heard a dull thud against the wall, crying because of the pain when I realized it came from me.

"You should stay. I insist." Rod tightened the grip on my neck. "A quiet little girl like you, hid in my van and brought this upon yourself. You've seen everything. EVERYTHING! Might as well make use of yourself here, before I change my mind." He threatened. "Can't believe I've never dealt with this before." He then sighed.

"First, you better get used to seeing all the ice cream." He declared, "Starting from tomorrow, you will go and help Matti in the kitchens. Just mix stuff." I can't help but stare with my honey brown eyes.

"But...I need to know how to mix the materials right?" my reserved voice finally rang out. He sat up, the eyes of the mascot head locked with mine.

"And this is when you start pestering me like normal kids?"

To be honest, I think I've never been a normal kid, Mr. Rod. And I don't want you to consider me as one either.
