Chapter 12

Bbh/Darryl POV

For the next couple of days, Zak and I keep up the act of us being together as much as we can.

Clay definitely knows about our "relationship" by now, but he hasn't approached me about it, and Zak hasn't said anything about Clay talking to him either.

The good news is that Zak's friends have started to like me, though Geo is still a bit hesitant. I can tell he's very overprotective of his friends, and after Zak getting his heart broken, I can see why he's hesitant around me.

Eventually, Friday comes, and both Zak, Velvet, and Ant are talking with me about some weekend plans.

Velvet and Ant have gotten really close over the past few days, and I can tell there's definitely something going on between them, but I don't ask about it. Ant will tell me when he's ready.

"We should go to the arcade!" Zak exclaims, excitedly tugging my arm.

I laugh at his happiness. "That would be fun, maybe we could ask if the others want to join us?"

Zak is about to say something, but Velvet interrupts him. "Actually, I think I have a fun idea for just the four of us." He seems a bit nervous.

"Well?" Zak looks at him. "What is it?"

Velvet takes a deep breath. "Um, I know this is kind of sudden, but Ant and I are...dating? And, seeing as you two are also together, we could do like a double date? Like a fancy thing, maybe Zak and I could surprise you two."

Ant giggles nervously at the reveal, looking at me.

I just smile, "You guys are together? Oh my gosh I knew it! Cutest couple ever!"

Zak wraps a reassuring arm around Velvet's shoulder, "Literally everyone in both our friend groups shipped you two like crazy! I'm so happy for you guys! And yes, we should plan a super special date for these cuties." He winks at me.

Both boys start whispering and giggling to each other before looking at us. "We better get planning." Zak says, softly kissing my forehead. "I'll talk to you later, strawberry."

Velvet gives Ant a quick hug before joining Zak. "You will not be disappointed!" They run off in the direction of Zak's house.

I turn to Ant, "You and Velvet are so cute! When did this happen, and why didn't I know?"

Ant blushes slightly. "Well we spent the day together when you took me to Zak's house, and after that we would always hang out after school. Then, yesterday he asked if I would be willing to go on a date, and of course I said yes." Ant smiles dreamily to himself at the memory. "The date went well, and he asked if I would be his boyfriend! Obviously, I agreed, I mean, isn't he amazing?"

"Wow. You really are in love." I suddenly remember something. "Wait a second...didn't you have a crush on him last year? You would literally not stop talking about him! Now look at you!"

"Well, hehe, funny story. He actually liked me too! We didn't just start dating two days after we met for the fun of it."

I roll my eyes. "Of course. Well, if I want any chance of going out this weekend, I'm going to need to be home soon and do something to get on my mother's good side. Text me later, ok?"

Ant waves goodbye. "Will do! See ya!"

After a few hours of finishing homework and watching random movies, I get a call from Zak.

I make sure to close my bedroom door before answering, fearing my parents hearing.

"Hi, love!" Zak sounds excited and giggly. Seeing as he called me 'love' I assume Velvet is still in the room.
