Bbh/Darryl POV
I sit in my lawn chair awkwardly, feeling nervous without Zak there next to me.
Clay and George are still laying on the grass, wrapped in each other's arms.
The glass sliding door opens, and I look over to see Ant stepping outside.
"Hey, Darryl." He sits in the chair Zak was using. "Your boyfriend might not be coming back out."
I start to panic. "What?! Why? Is something wrong?"
Ant laughs, putting a comforting hand on my shoulder. "No, don't worry. His friends just caught him. By now, I doubt the guy can walk straight."
I guess Zak didn't really care what I had to say. I don't completely blame him, after all, he came to have fun. I was just dragging him down.
Trying not to show my annoyance, I turn to Ant trying to start a conversation. At this point, we're probably the only two people who aren't intoxicated.
After a while, I start to wonder if Zak is okay, and make a move to go inside.
Before I can even touch the door though, Zak stumbles outside. Velvet is behind him, and when Ant sees his boyfriend, he rolls his eyes.
The boys see us and run over, giggling. Velvet grabs his boyfriend's hand, dragging him away somewhere.
Zak, on the other hand, stays with me. Standing in front of my chair, he gazes down at me with glazed eyes. I start to say something, but he leans towards me, whispering in my ear. "I love you, Darryl." I know he's not thinking straight, but the words still fluster me.
Laughing at my reaction, the raven haired boy sits on my lap, wrapping his arms lovingly around my neck.
"You know," he says, playing with a lock of my hair, "I've always liked you. Even before we became friends."
Now, I'm starting to get confused. Obviously, he doesn't know what he's saying, but I still can't help but wonder.
"What do you mean?"
Zak leans his head on my shoulder, closing his eyes. "You're just so sweet. And your eyes...they're mesmerizing." Opening one eye, he leans in to kiss my neck. Smiling lazily, he starts rambling. "I would see you every single day, and this probably sounds stupid cuz I'm so popular, but I was always too nervous to walk up to you. Then Clay came along, and I forgot about you for a while, but now..."
I'm shocked, even though he doesn't know what he's saying, everyone says a drunk man's words are a sober man's thoughts.
Instead of responding to the boy, I just wrap my arms around him tighter, as if without my hold, he'll just fade away.
After sitting like this for ages, Zak begins to sniffle.
"What's wrong?" I coax, trying to comfort the boy in my arms.
"I just love you so, so much. I have to deal with the fact that our relationship is fake every single day, wishing this was real. That you really loved me, really wanted to kiss me, and hold me, and..." He trails off, burying his head into my sweater.
"I- I love you too, Zak. I guess I'll always be too nervous to say anything about it, but you won't remember this in the morning anyway." I whisper, pressing a kiss into his dark hair.
Not moving from his spot on my chest, Zak tells me, "I could never forget this. Not in the morning, not ever."
He readjusts himself, wrapping his legs around my waist and leaning into my neck.
