On the way to Kates penthouse was a comfortable silence. Kate was still teary seeing her friend again.
They arrived at the penthouse and Kate greeted the door man as usual and entered the elevator. They went all the way up to the penthouse.
"Damn this is a nice house compared to the one in Ohio." "Yea after you guys left we moved here because dad found a good job and now its ours and mom helps him." Nat looked shocked, her little Kate she remembered always nice and on the run and didn't really like people, never would have guessed she would move here with her parents. To Natasha she saw her family doing good in Ohio and thought they would stay there but she was wrong, now they are like rich.
Kate took Natasha to her room because her mom was home and didn't want her to ask questions on where she was and why an Avenger was in her house. Kates parents never have seen Natasha or Yelena when they were little only a slight glimpse of them walking Kate home late one night.
"So are you gonna tell me why you left? I was so worried about you guys. I went outside to play one day and poof you guys were gone. I cried a little bit when I realized you guys were really gone and when we were leaving the house." Kate said starting to tear up. Nat looked at her sadly and replied, "We had to leave. Dad came home that night and said we were gonna have an adventure he was talking about and that night was the day. We had to leave to go to a place called the Red Room." Kate looked Natasha in the eyes and saw some tears rolling down her face. Kate took Natashas hand to tell her she was listening and to take her time. "They took us the Red Room and turned us into weapons. They used some sort of mind control. Somehow I escaped and Yelena sadly couldn't. Kate they did horrible stuff to us." Kate could tell it was hard for her to explain this. Kate squeezed Natashas hand tighter. Nat took a deep breath and continued, "They made us do bad things. We killed, and we obeyed. They gave us targets and we completed them." Kate hugged Natasha and responded, "Natasha its not your fault, you were being controlled into it and now your out. Natasha I will be here for you and so will the other Avengers." Kate sniffled she didn't realize she was crying knowing they went through that. "Thank you Kate." Natasha rested her head on Kates shoulder and Kate rested her head on top of Natashas.
Natasha ended up having to leave a little but after. Kates heart broke knowing they went through that and mostly alone. Kate is upset Yelena didn't get out. Kate has always had that spot for Yelena in her heart. Kate thinks she might still have a little something for Yelena but always brushed it off as nothing. Kate laid down on her bed thinking of the two widows and smiled thinking about one more than the other.
