Chapter 14: Leba's reason

Somewhere in the town, is where Annie's family home is near the river. 

Inside they came back from their event at the engagement dinner. Annie's father is concerned, "I wouldn't believe to see it but the magic of the Madrigal  is dying of danger." Annie's mother places her hand on her head as  she place her shawl on the hanger. "But the most surprisedly, Julieta's son has a magical gift along!!" 

The eldest daughter Jonesy was making tea as she place the pot on the stone and light it, "I always thought that kid is a mischief maker, but I never knew that he pulls a stunt for ten years!" Annie was still trying to understand, 'There's has to be reason why he did it, why he hide. his gift from not only his family but to the rest of the Encanto." Her second eldest sister Vivian is scoffing "Why are you defending for him? He's nothing but trouble!" Annie's mother was shock to hear it from her daughter, "Vivian!! Don't ever said that!!" Vivian roll her eyes, "Well it's true. He and Mirabel causes a scene during Antonio's gift ceremony and then he outburst of not caring getting a magical gift, and now at the engagement party he has a gift!"

Annie protested, "Hey! I was surprise to see him having a gift and I know he has his reason of why would he hide!" Jonesy ask her in confused, "What are you saying?" 

"I think his reasons are-" But then a thudding noise caught their attention, they grew suspicious and see that it was coming from Annie's room. "What was that?" Annie ask her father as he quietly went to Annie's room, he slowly opens the door and sees that there's nothing in the room. 

"Nothing here, I guess it was our mind messing with us." He said as he about to close the door, but then he saw something that caught his eye, a coatrack was standing besides the door and Annie came to him, "What is Pa?" Her father was pointing at  the coatrack, "It's your coatrack, standing besides me." He said, Annie wasn't understanding or getting the clue. "And?"  

"You don't have coatrack," Annie realizes that he is right, since it's her room she always hang around her room she has never had a coatrack. She notices the shawl which hanging has red and blue strip with markings of happy and sad face, but before she realizes something her sister Vivian throws hot water from the teapot and it hits on the bottom leg. They watch for a moment and then it started to shake and then it jumps rapidly as it morph into Leba. 

"HOT! HOT! HOT! MY leg's burning! What were you thinking!?" He exclaimed as he tries to pad on his legs, but instead he trips and fell down on his back, as it cools off. Leba look up to see Annie with her hands on her hips and Leba nervously chuckle, "I'm guessing I own you an explanation?", "You think?" Annie's mother raise her eyebrow, Leba sigh as he gets up. "Annie, I'm sorry that I was lying to you." 

She crossed her arms as she said, "Why did you tell me that you have a gift? I'm your friend and I always supported you." Leba clear his throat as he replies, "Well at first I wanted to tell you at the very beginning, but I stop to realizes cause if I tell you, then Dolores will overhear it and it's impossible for us to hide from her." 

"Well that's actually true, but still why would you even hide in the first place?" Annie ask another question, Leba sigh as he search through pocket and pulls out random things like a rubber ducky, a chair, an accordion. Annie and her family were surprise to see, "How many things are in that pocket?" Jonesy thought confusedly, then he pulls out a brightly greenish glass and handed  to Annie. She and her family looked and it was one of Bruno's vision and it showing a young Leba standing in front a door, "Wha?" She pointed in confusedly, "Tilt it sideways," He tells Annie as she does what he said,  she tilt it and it changes into a different imagine of the door disappearing and Leba with his finger covering his mouth, hushing.

"I had my Tio Bruno showing me that vision." Leba said, as Annie was surprises, "What do you mean?"

Leba begins to explain, "I ask for that vision, it was a week before Mirabel's gift ceremony."
