Naegi was just about to go and call at Kirigiri's room when there was a knock at the door.
"Who is it?" He asked. Anyone could wander in and kill him at this point. Half of the students were dead. A new motive of ten billion yen had been given, and someone could be plotting anything.
"Its Kirigiri-san," her sweet, quiet voice came through the speaker. His stomach lurched with nervousness. When he'd invited her round to his room for dinner together, he never imagined she'd say yes. He'd gone through this scene is his head far too many times to even count. He opened the door to see her stood outside his room. She was holding two cup noodles and chop sticks in her hands. He smiled at her, and she returned it with a tiny curve at one side of her lips and she flicked her bangs slightly to one side.

"Come in," he said, ushering her inside and locking the door behind them. His hand lingered on the lock for a second while he listened for footsteps in the corridors. He heard nothing except Aoi and Sakura returning to Asahinas room. "I have a bad feeling about tonight," Kirigiri whispered. "There must be someone among us who needs money. They'll be plotting by now," a flash of fear ran through her violet eyes. Naegi stepped away from the door and walked over to the desk.
"Well, the door is locked, so we can eat in peace," Naegi said, flicking the small blue switch of the kettle he had found in the drawer of the desk. "You could stay here in my room, if you're scared," he suggested. "Asahina-san and Sakura-chan have been doing that since the first night,"

"Please don't tell the others, but I am a little afraid." Kyoko ran a hand through her long, purple hair. It was the first time she had ever admitted fear to anyone. Why did Naegi have this effect on her? Why did she want to open up and tell him everything? Why did she want to drop her poker face? She watched as Naegi took off his blazer and hung it up on a hook on the wall. Then, he unzipped his hoodie, revealing his white shirt underneath.
"It's hot in here," she said, taking off her boots and jacket, and putting them with Naegi's. She took off her tie and undid her top button too. There was a click from the other side of the room that made Kyoko jump. Naegi saw were jump and placed his hand on her shoulder.
"Just the kettle," he chuckled, walking away to go and pour the water. The place where his hand had been was warm, and her skin tingled under her shirt. A strange feeling entered her stomach. She'd never felt like this before about anyone, but she thought she liked it. They both sat down at the table and began to eat. After a couple of mouthfuls, she caught Naegi staring at her hands.
"What?"
"Um, do you ever take your gloves off?" He asked.
"Not around other people,"
"Oh," he fell silent again until they started to share stories about thier middle schools. A little while later they sat on the bed, still sharing stories, when Naegi asked, "Would you take them off for me?" Kirigiri knew he was referring to the gloves.
"Why?"

"Because ipI don't want you to hide things from me. I want you to trust me, with everything," he tugged gently at the finger of one of the gloves. His words drove her to gently pull off one of the gloves. "And the other one," he said softly. Once both gloves were off, Naegi took both of her hands in his own and gently rubbed his smooth, soft thumbs over the scars on her hands. Some of them were slightly raised, whereas others were just marks. They littered her hands, making them look almost cracked. A feeling entered him. A feeling so strong that he had never experienced something like it before. It was a strong need to hold Kirigiri in his arms, protect her, and never let her go.
The same one was felt by Kirigiri. She'd just taken her gloves off for a guy and now he was holding her hands. She'd never had a crush on someone before, always pushed any feelings away because she thought they would do her no good. But these were uncontrollable.
His touch sent shivers up and down her spine and she never wanted him to stop looking at her, holding her hands. A heat and tingle that Naegi had never before experienced shot through his veins.

Before he could even think about what he was doing, he had raised her hands to his lips and placed a small kiss on her fingers. Kyoko's eyes opened wide and Naegi started straight back at her.
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" he started, dropping her hands and nervously rubbing the back of his neck. A slight blush has spread across his face, while she could feel hers turning pink too.
"No, it's, um, it's..." She paused for a second, not sure she could say it, "f-f-fine," she nervously placed her shaking hands back into his.
"K-Kirigiri-s-san," he sighed, smiling as he squeezed her hands a little. She licked her dry lips and swallowed nervously. She had no idea what to do. She wanted to keep a straight face, but she also wanted to, just this once, show him how she felt. All the feelings she had been pushing away since she first saw him were surfacing, and she was scared. If she fell in love, she could be manipulated. How could she solve this school's mysteries when all she could think about was him? Maybe that could do it together.
