"Y/NNNNN," a tired voice called out from outside the front door. I groaned and put down the sword I was training with. I shook my head and ran a hand through my hair, breathing harshly.I had been training before my brother Sylas interrupted me. The sun of the demon realm had just barely risen, slightly peaking out from the clouds of ash.
"What is it Sylas?" I groaned, annoyed with my brother. "And why in Purgatory are you up so early? Don't you need your beauty sleep oh fair princess?~" I smirked, suddenly groaning as I flopped down to the ground.
Sylas huffed and plopped down on the ground next to me. "That's not very lady like of you," Sylas deadpanned. I smirked and jumped on him to ruffle his light blue hair. "Screw being a lady!" I laughed, tackling him to the ground.
"Ewwww you're all sweaty Y/N! Get offff," Sylas complained. "And you smell like our uncle's expired fish," I retorted. I slowly got off of my brother and laughed until it was hard to breath. Sylas laughed alongside me before suddenly stopping. "Oh-!"
"Mirakel sent me out here to tell you that breakfast was done. He also told me to tell you to take a shower, 'says you're stinking up the whole house," Sylas gave me a toothy grin as he got up and walked back inside, leaving me alone in the grass as if he didn't just insult me.
I lazily got up and ran my hands through my hair. I grimaced as I was met with knots and tangles. Maybe it was time for a shower-
Disregarding my thoughts, I lazily walked inside the house, occasionally bumping into the wall. Eventually I found my way to the table and sat down in the dark oak chair. My brother's both glanced down at me with worried glances.
The light made my condition seem so much worse. In reality, I'd been training non-stop for a month now; ever since I said take Mirakel's place. Under my eyes were dark eyebags and my skin was beginning to have a pale tint. I couldn't remember the last night I got some decent sleep.
"Y/N~" Mirakel sang while he waved his hand in my face. I grabbed his wrist harshly and pushed it out of my face. I looked at my brother with a strong glare. My eyebrow raised after I took a good look at my older brother.
"Are you wearing an apron?"
"Maybe..."
"Tch..Idiot..."
"H-hey!!"
With those words exchanged, we all sat down and began to eat. After I had laughed at him, Mirakel discarded the apron far away from him while his face was red from embarrassment.
The maids prepared our breakfast, but Mirakel always insisted on helping. We all ate in silence. If you listened hard enough you'd be able to hear the chirping of crickets.
"The maids said that mom and dad should be home today," Mirakel awkwardly started a conversation between the three of us. Sylas' eyes immedietly lit up. "Really?! They've been gone for a whole month now. The Demon King has been placing them on mission after mission," the light blue haired male pouted.
"It makes sense," I spoke with my mouth full of food. I swallowed after I saw my brother's disapproving looks. "The goddess race has been pulling assault after assault. Every guard is being put out on missions. If we let our guard down for even a second we might loose this war,"
I watched Mirakel's face drop slightly. I looked down at his hands to only notice them shaking uncontrollably. I put down my work and gently grabbed my older brother's hands. Sylas looked at me confused before realizing Mirakel's nervousness. Sylas stood up and grabbed all of our plates and put them to the side before coming and sitting back down.
"Mom and dad will be okay Mirakel. Please don't worry yourself," I spoke gently while drawing small circles on his palms, a trait we siblings often did to comfort eachother. Mirakel bit his lip as it had begun to tremble.
It wasn't uncommon for Mirakel to have sudden anxiety. He had such sweet hearts. Mirakel worried so much for his family that it would sometimes drive him to having a panic attack. Sylas and I had learned to pick up early signs of Mirakel's anxiety attacks. They had been more frequent as of late.
"When I go out on the battlefield, I promise that I'll end this war as quickly as I can. I'll end all of our worries. I'm going to protect each and every one of us," I smiled softly. Mirakel looked up at me with teary orbs.
"Say Y/N, you never told me why you decided to take my place," Mirakel spoke suddenly, wiping away any tears that fell. Sylas watched the two of us with a smile. My younger brother got up and walked over to the maids, offering to help put with preparations for our parents return.
"Oh Mira you dummy," I laughed softly. "Do I really need a reason? You obviously didn't want to go out on the battlefield. I figured that I would step in to get mom and dad off your back. I'm still your sister that loves you even if I do tease you endlessly," I shot my brother a big smile. It soon turned into a smirked as I begun to ruffle his hair. "Haha! Did you really think I could go that long without teasing you?"
Mirakel groaned and forced my hand off of his head with a light chuckle. "Oh you little devil," he chuckled. I turned and winked at him. "I'm a demon. Get your facts checked sweetheart~" I playfully winked at my brother. Mirakel loudly sighed, letting his head fall down to the table. "I win!" I cheered.
The two of us laughed our heads off until a knock echoed the house. The maids rushed and opened the door with sad eyes. My father and mother walked in, immediately lighting up my eyes with joy.
"Master Erias! Lady Aisuru! You've returned!"
All of the maids gathered at the door happily. As my brother's and I stood together in the kitchen waiting patiently, gasps were heard. All of the maids suddenly sounded panicked and distraught.
"Y/N," My father's voice reached out beyond the clump of maids. The maids cleared the way frantically, allowing my siblings and I to see our parents forms.
My eyes widened when I saw a bloody bandage around my mother's eyes. "M-mom what happened-" I was cut off by my father.
"My daughter, you have a week to prepare. Your first mission is in eight days,"
