Sangyeon POV
"daddy!"

i smiled, looking at my daughter as she ran to me with a wide smile. i carried her on my arms as i asked, "how's school yeonwoo?"

she gave me a thumbs up, "the best! my teacher said that i was great in singing! and she wants me to perform on the stage for winter special festival!"

i smiled widely as i said, hinting of jealousy, "oh? you sang in front of your teacher before singing in front of me?"

she giggled, "hehe, i wanted to show my best to daddy so i need to get my skills proven by my teacher before i can sing for you!"

i put her down and held onto her small hand as we slowly walked towards my car, "then you should sing for me later after dinner, will you?" she nodded happily, "yes!"

-

after dinner, i sat on the couch, waiting for my daughter to sing for me.

yeonwoo stood in front of me with a thin smile, nervousness clearly shown on her face. i smiled, "don't be nervous. if you don't want daddy to see you, i can turn to the back and listen instead."

"no need daddy! this can become a practise for me before going on stage.", she replied. she really is matured.

i nodded, "okay then. introduce yourself and the song you're singing, sweetie."

she hold on her imaginary microphone as she introduced, "hello, my name is lee yeonwoo. today, i will be singing 'story of us' by yuri unnie."

i smiled weakly, it's the song yeonju sang for me before she...

she closed her eyes and started to sing after playing the instrumental. unknowingly, tears rolled out of my eyes on the cheeks.

she finally opened her eyes when i clapped and cheered after the song is done. she bowed 90 degrees, "thank you."

i opened my arms widely, "come here sweetie." she ran to me and jumped into my embrace, giggling and bubbly.

she had a sad pout on her face when she looked at me, "daddy, why are you crying?"

her small thumb went to my face and wiped my tears away, with her small smile. i held onto her hand as i said, "yeonwoo, do you remember the woman i told you that i would married if she's still here?"

she nodded, "yes! that pretty woman!"

i nodded, "yes. she sang this song to me before she left me... years ago." she looked at me with her teary eyes and an upside down smile. she quickly hugged me.

"aigoo, are you crying?"

she nodded, "because daddy is crying. and because daddy misses that pretty woman."

i just smiled while patting my daughter's back, comforting the little one, "im okay woo, im really okay now." she looked at me and wiped her tears, "really?" i nodded.

she then took a seat beside me on the couch, "daddy! can you tell me more about mommy?"

i smiled bitterly as i nodded, her mommy.

"she's really pretty, the prettiest woman i ever see. our first encounter was at a beach, when i was 9, that time she was... 8. she was crying alone at the beach, so i went to comfort her. she said that she felt lonely because her brother asked her to wait for him while he gets food for them. i told her that i can accompany her while waiting for her brother to come."

she nodded, paying full attention to the story.

i continued, "we talked about what we wanna become in the future. and before she left me, we promised each other to meet again, and fall in love with each other. think about it again, i was so naive that i actually thought that it's so easy to love someone."

"you and mommy would be so cute together, i wish i could've seen that.", she said with a sad pout. i smiled, "you will meet that kind of boy one day."

i continued my story, "one day, in university, we were assigned to film a short drama, along with other friends. i thought she would've recognised me, but she didn't. and so i thought that i should just keep the story to myself. slowly, she appeared in my life again, frequently. and unknowingly, i fell for her. i smiled when i see her around me, i feel nervous and get excited when i talk to her. i even hoped that we can get a couple role in our project, and... we did!"

yeonwoo screamed and cheered as she clapped her hands with her eyes smile. i patted her head softly.

"we... have feelings for each other and we know that, but before i can even tell her that i like her... she left me.", i said. and i can see her expression clearly dropped to a sad one.

i smiled to her before continuing my story, "my friends told me that it was because of her surgery. and well... at midnight, her twin brother sent me a video of her, giving her last words to me before she leaving the world... she said that she had to leave me for a surgery in china for her memories, and she knew that the successful rate was low."

a tear fell off as i continued, "she has short term memories, and that's why she couldn't remember a lot of things at times. she asked me to forget her and date someone else, and i tried. but i just, love her too much that i can't move on until now..."

yeonwoo hugged my arm tightly as she cried too, saying between sobs, "d-dont cry d-daddy. i-i bet m-mommy loves you a l-lot, just l-like you d-do."

i patted her back and nodded, "and she loves you too, yeonwoo."

after crying, she asked me, "then daddy, why did you adopt me?" i replied, "it's because she loves children, just like i do."

she said, in whisper, "daddy... im s-scared, mommy won't like me... just like how, my real parents left me alone..."

i shook my head as i carried her to sit on my laps, resulting her looking at me, confusely. i told her, "your mommy likes you a lot, no, she loves you."

yeonwoo smiled widely, "really?" i nodded, "really."

-

the next day, i brought yeonwoo to the supermarket.

i was too focus on what ingredient to buy for lunch later that i only noticed that yeonwoo is away from my sight after three times calling for her to ask for her opinion.

"yeonwoo? yeonwoo where are you?!"

i was searching around for her when suddenly i heard someone shouting, "im here daddy!" i turned my back to see yeonwoo holding a woman's hand, walking towards me.

my fear was eased and replaced with relief. i squat down to her level and hugged her as i asked with a hint of worrying, "where have you been yeonwoo?! i was so worried..."

she pouted, "im sorry daddy, i was looking around and the next second i turn my back, you're gone daddy."

i patted her head, "at least you're here now. im sorry for not paying enough attention to you yeonwoo." i stood up, carrying yeonwoo on my arms as i finally laid my eyes on the woman, "thㅡ"

i wanted to thank her but couldn't speak, looking at the woman standing in front of me.

it's...

"kim yeonju?!"

she widened her eyes, "i-i am kim yeonju... b-but"

"how do you know my name, sir?"
