Taehyun sat with legs crossed on the cold rubbery floor of the rooftop he was currently in, along with his best friend by his side,
Both boys hugged their snacks in their palms, staring out the rooftop deck at the view in front of them,
In the broad light of day, the view from the roof was treetops as the birds knew them, congregating with fluttering leaves upon wide avenues, the view gave a sense of perspective that would calm your soul right there, it would make the everyday struggles shrink,
The boys sat there as silence engulfed them, not even looking each other in the eyes,
"Do you believe in soulmates?" The red-haired male moved his gaze to the boy next to him upon hearing the sudden question that has just escaped his lips,
"No"
The older frowned at the response, as he drew near the younger,
"Why?" He simply asked, waiting for a pleasant answer from the boy next to him.
"It's an unrealistic fantasy that could cause marriages to fail and children to suffer." The younger muttered with his mellifluous voice,
"But don't you thin-" Beomgyu was cut off when he noticed that the younger aggressively turned his head around, staring at nothing.
Taehyun let his big doe-eyes wander around the rooftop as if looking for something or someone earning Beomgyu's confusion,
He then faced the older with pure hesitation on his face, Beomgyu had his head tilted to the side with furrowed eyebrows, "Have you seen that?"
Beomgyu couldn't help but frown more at the younger's question, "What do you mean?"
"I sensed someone walking past us, did you?"
Beomgyu slightly wheezed at the younger, "Are you perhaps hallucinating? no one's here except for us"
Beomgyu chuckled getting up from his previous position as he slung his backpack over his shoulder,
He nudged Taehyun's side leaning closer to his ear "Let's leave, classes will start soon"Taehyun nodded hesitantly as he followed the older to the rooftop's entrance sill,
he halted when he reached the door, as he turned around softly taking a glimpse of every corner of the rooftop confirming the older's words earlier.
-
The sky was ablaze with the fire of the setting sun, its slanting rays giving a warm orange tinge to the sky, casting long shadows on the ground, where sauntered a slender figure down the street,
Taehyun strolled under the aglow sky, enjoying the warm breeze echoing in the city's calm and quiet streets,
He was walking his way back home, just bid his farewell to his older friend, immersed in the peaceful vibes of the twilight,
It was about time he finally reached home, he let his cold palm take hold of the door's knob twisting it open to reveal his dark living room, his slim fingers wandered around the rough blank wall on his right side, looking for the interrupter, allowing the place to lighten up, Taehyun glanced at that specific corner of his living room, where was placed the old, flimsy sofa,
He let out a sigh, gaze still fixated on the poor furniture, the young male managed to shrug and moved his steps forward, marching to the bathroom to freshen up.
As he came out, taehyun approached the hinged window facing him with a towel wrapped around his neck, and his red wet locks scattered across his smooth-skinned forehead, he kept up with his steps not planning to halt on them any sooner,
Now that he was leaning his belly on the windowsill, he twisted it open, taking in the cold wind on his face, brushing his soft crimson hair,
Taehyun lifted his big doe-eyes staring at the ceiling that was aglow with bright city lights, the pale crescent moon shone like a silvery claw in the midst of the blanket of stars that stretched to infinity,
Taehyun just stood there with a soft smile on his lips, indulging in the deep night, enjoying the charming night, he closed his eyelids taking in more of this atmosphere, he let himself get carried away subsiding in the serenity of the night,
The children's laughter and laughter were gone, the bright moon and the glimpse of the stars brought some innocence to the gloomy streets, where silence prevailed, and the occasional barking of faraway dogs broke it.
Taehyun loved this part of the day, when he could feel the warmth, serenity and calm,
The calm of a day well ended.
He would like to keep doing this all day long, admire the occasional silence, the gentle breeze, the moonlight, and the sounds of nature without anyone interrupting him, have a time for himself and be himself without anyone judging him, reduce his interactions with other people without being called nicknames,
But he was grateful, that he at least had a limited hours sparing a time to calm his mind, and that was only during....
The Night.
