"Oscar and Morris Delancey! What do you think you are doing?!," I asked furiously, marching up next to Spot, "Let go of Cheer this instant!"

"M...Ms. Stone! We...uh...we didn't see you there," Morris stuttered nervously, trying to look innocent.

"Let go of Cheer, Morris," I growled. Morris instantaneously did as I said and let Cheer go. I could see the surprised look flash across Spot's face but I ignored it as it quickly went back to being impassive. Once Cheer was out of Morris' grip, he ran to me, gripping my skirts tightly as I gently pushed him behind me and Spot who had taken another step diagonally forward as if to stand in front of Cheer and I in a protective manner. Both Oscar and Morris looked nervous as they noticed that I cared for the boy and quickly began to shuffle backwards as they made up mumbled excuses and apologies.

"Oscar? Morris?" I asked them with a sweet smile on my face as I called them back, "I would like for you both to understand something extremely important."

"What is it Ms. Stone?" Oscar asked nervously as he looked behind him.

"Cheer and the rest of the Brooklyn newsies are to be considered under my protection. If I hear from any of them that you have touched or taunted them in anyway, I will personally take this issue to your father and both of you know how much your father hates to see me upset," I glared at the two brothers. You see, since I am the richest girl eligible for marriage for hundreds of miles, most men do everything in their power to keep me happy in an attempt to get me to marry one of their sons. Mr. Delancey was no exception and I was often able to use him as a threat against his two sons. "Are we clear?" I growled with a threatening stare.

"Ye...Yes Ms. Stone," they both stuttered pitifully.

"Wonderful!" I smiled with fake cheeriness, "Now get out of here." As soon as they were dismissed they had taken off running away from the docks. I sighed in relief and turned to look at Cheer. "Are you okay Cheer?" I asked him softly. He nodded and I sighed, pulling him into a hug. "Now I have to go. You know how Madame Price gets when I'm late for supper," I giggled with him as I tried to cheer him up.

I lifted Cheer up and hugged him close to my chest as he sniffled in my ear, "I'll miss you Angel."

"Hey! Don't cry hun! This isn't goodbye! You have already promised to visit me once every two days and if you don't then I will hunt you down. And I will come to visit you," I promised as I held him in front of me, "Now why don't you go back to where ever you put your bag and look inside. I think there might be a surprise for you," I suggested. Cheer quickly jumped out of my arms smiling and raced back up the dock. I smiled softly at his retreating form and turned to face Spots cold, calculating eyes.

"You didn't have do that you know," he said coolly but I could hear his curiosity underneath the facade. I looked at him questioningly and he shrugged saying, "Take care of Cheer, threatening the Delanceys..."

"I know. But I'm not going to let someone I care for get hurt," I sighed, "Take care of him okay? I meant what I said when I told Cheer I would visit but I can't be here to look after him all the time. I'm sure you will see me back here again." After a moment of waiting for a reply I was disappointed to see him studying me. I sighed a "Goodbye Spot" and started to make my way off the docks to go home.

Just before I was gone I heard him yell to me, "Who are you?"

Without missing a beat I looked back at him over my shoulder, flipping my long blonde hair behind me and called out with a small smirk, "Call me Angel."
