Chapter 22

Maya's pov

It's been a year since the little incident. Me and Josh are closer than ever. Lucas doesn't talk to me. He talks to a girl named Darby all the time now. Farkle was excepted to Harvard. Riley hates Josh because he's always with me.

She doesn't know about that day.

She still is the same Riley though. The one in love with Lucas but believes it's impossible.

We split up. Were not the same group anymore.

Just then, Riley walks to the living room where me and Josh are, "Maya, it's been almost a year and I want to have a girls night out" she States.

I smile and agree.

We head out of the house and make some small talk before heading to Starbucks. I really don't like coffee so I just got a hot chocolate and we sat down at a small table.

"Want to play twenty question?" I asked her.

"Sure." she replied, "I'll go first. Uh ... Where were you about a year ago?" He face was serious.

How did she even know about that!?

"Uh- I was nowhe-" I was cut off with Riley screaming.

"Maya! Where were you! I heard the scream, what happened!"

"I...uhh...fine." I gave up, I was going to have to tell her some time.

"I went to get water, some guy came up to me, I thought it was Josh. It wasn't. They took me into a room. Tied me up. Josh was there too. Acted as if he was playing me but was playing them. Turned around they ran. We're safe. The end."

Her mouth hung open. She then shook her head. As If she was shoving what she heard right back out of her head.

"All that's over. Thank goodness. Friends?" She held out her hand wanting me to shake it.

I did and we hugged.

Josh and me. We're friends. Great friends.

Nothing more.

Yet.

"Let's go to the beach!" I shouted at Josh. He looked at me and laughed.

He then smirked and started singing the song Starships by Nicki Minaj.

I busted out laughing. My stomach was hurting so bad by the time we were in his car. Bikini was on under my shirt and shorts while Josh just wore his swim shorts.

Luck ass boys.

I wish I could be one.

•no pregnancy
•No two things having to

They had it made.

A few minutes later, we arrived at the beach.

Although, I didn't feel like getting covered in sea salt Quite yet. Not now at least.

I laid out my towel and took off my shirt and shorts. All the while, I felt eyes on my body.

Turning around I blushed as Josh was checking me out.

"Done drooling, pervert?" I smirked.

"Wait, are you not getting in the water?" He asked, eyebrows raised.

"No, I'm going to tan" I then turned and laid down. Making sure he wasn't going to come after me,I listened.

I heard his foot steps wading into the water and knew it was okay.

Okay. I thought I was okay.

Next thing I know, I was being carried into the water.

"Put me down!" I screamed.

"No way princess." A voice said which I recognized as Josh's. I could just feel the smirk radiating off him.

I was thrown into the water, but two can play at this game.

I grabbed his ankle and pulled him under the water.

Still under water, I tried to swim up. so couldn't. He had ahold of me. I kicked Josh and slowly reached the top. Once we were both there, he grabbed my face and pulled me under water again. He then kissed me and I kissed back.

We came above water still kissing and smiling.

He pulled away looking at me.
Right into my eyes.
His lips pulled in a grin.
He spoke.

"Maya Hart, will you go out with me?" He questioned.

I felt as if my life stopped. I started smiling like an idiot and a (I would say) sassy/girly/popular/nerd thought came into my mind.

"We are out" I smirked.

He laughed, "Maya Hart, will you be my girlfriend."

Without another thought I answered him.

"Yes."
