When Chris entered his office he noticed Gwen playing with some fidgets.
"Hi Gwen."
"Hi Chris, do you need me to leave?"
"No, it's fine." He began to clear his desk, packing all his belongings.
"Going on another holiday?"
Chris shook his head. He thought. Do I really want to do this?
"I'm quitting."
"WHAT?!" Gwen dropped the fidget on the desk.
"Y...you are joking right?"
Chris shook his head again. "There's no point in me staying. You can keep the fidgets by the way."
"No, keep them. They're yours and I have loads anyway. But- w..why are you quitting?"
"I just....I can't deal with this anymore. This job has changed me but not in a good way. The stress, the whole Heather incident."
Gwen looked extremely upset. She suggested therapy, which made Chris chuckle a little inside.
"I will probably get it soon."
The room was still for a second, until Gwen broke the silence.
"Where will you be going?"
"I'm gonna move to California for a bit and stay in my brothers apartment until I can find a place to stay and a new job"
Gwen nodded, it was fair enough.
"i wish you well in your new career, even though everyone here treats you horribly it doesn't mean we won't miss you"
Chris smiled. "Thank you Gwen, you know. Out of everyone I think I will miss you the most."
"Wow- really? You mean it?"
Chris nodded, still smiling.
"And hey, if the new principle is somehow crappier than me make sure you pull a beth for me" he added.
Gwen laughed "I'll make sure of it."
"I guess I'll even miss your lesson, no matter how boring. Nobody could give me the same experience.
"Nope! Nobody can beat Mclean."
He paused.
"Also, if Chef ever forces you into doing PE give me a message"
Gwen laughed again. "Oh, of course."
"Goodbye Chris, I wish you luck."
"Goodbye Gwen, I too wish you luck"
From the doorway came a voice.
"Wow man."
Chris turned to see Chef leaning against the wall.
"Oh! Hello. I- I'm sorry about-"
"You're really leaving?"
"I- yes."
"Not without this you're not."
Chef ran forward and scooped Chris up into a hug. Chris was a little surprised, yet he still accepted the embrace happily.
Don was also in the room. He was watching Chris and Chef with a happy look on his face.
"Jeez man, I'll miss you."
"Ehem..." Chris looked up to see Courtney. "Now that you are leaving, can I have your ice stock and become nurse?"
"NO" all three teachers shouted. Courtney rolled her eyes and walked away in defeat.
Chef began to cry. So did Chris.
"Don't...don't be too hard on the kids man." He choked on his tears.
"Don." He pulled away from Chef and walked up to him. "Don, honestly I can't thank you enough. You've been with me through thick and thin and I don't know what I'd do without you. You are like a brother to me."
"Do you have to leave?"
"Hold on Man." Chef stared at Chris. "What am I to you?"
"Hmm..if I said it would be rather controversial."
"Wrong answer. Chris, what am I to you?"
Chef was now holding a beanbag, getting ready to attack Chris with it
Chris blushed and began to grow hot.
"Err I- can we open a window? It's super hot ahaha."
Don sighed and walked over to the window. He unlocked it.
"Thanks. Oh god, my flight is leaving in three hours."
He got up, grabbed all his bags, then walked over the door. He took one last look around the room.
Chef chucked the bean bag at Don. I mean, he had to throw it at someone right?
"Wow. This is it. Well guys I- thank you."
"Text me when the plane lands man."
"I will. Unless it crashes, you'll never know."
"Don't make me worry."
Chris grinned, then turned to leave. He stopped though.
"Oh and Chef? I- I love you."
